This is probably the last significant post we’ll do about SDCC 2013, but I wanted to do a personal round up of my time there. Last year’s post still gets regular hits, so for some reason this sort of thing is of interest.

San Diego Comic-con 2013- ARROW panel/ Q&A
24 JulAt San Diego Comic-con 2012, one of things that I looked forward to was the preview and panel for the CW’s Arrow. We caught the pilot presentation twice and loved it both times- and as you know, the first season was my guilty pleasure show this past year. So, of course we had to catch the season 2 panel. They ran a short sizzle trailer and then we got to the fun… Pardon the shakiness of the video (my brother was the camera guy and I don’t think he is used to having to hold a camera steady that long). Guilty Pleasures- To Sin With TV
30 AprI’ve had a lot going on of late, so it’s been difficult to work my way through it all in order to write a post. Apologies. Thankfully, my favorite minion has been on the ball! But I’m pulling it together today in order to start new series of posts- Guilty Pleasures. Like the title says, these are things that I love and adore, but I feel a little guilty for enjoying it. I obviously have a lot of these- you already know of my love for the bad movie but here are some more.
Actually, to ease into it… I’m just going to talk about the TV series from this last season that I consider my guilty pleasures. Continue reading →

Creature Features are good for the soul.
25 FebThroughout my recent bout of the plague, and to be honest whenever I feel the need for a pick me up, I tend to reach for some of the greatest achievements of film ever- the Creature Feature. I know, you’re shaking your head at my antics and wondering how I could think these are quality films but listen up- there is nothing better on a grey day then curling up under a blankie with a bowl of popcorn, friends, and a ridiculous creature causing havoc. My Catch-Up on ARROW
22 JanIn the interest of full disclosure, let’s just get this fact cleared up: even with the good news I heard about it and having some interest in the character, I had no interest in watching the CW’s Arrow. In all fairness, those reasons were pretty much image-based: mainly a CW show starring a hunky guy with a title that thought the usage of “Green” wasn’t edgy enough. On the other hand, the CW has managed to do some decent genre shows besides the usual sudsy teen/20-ish dramas the network has been known for, like Supernatural and Nikita, but my schedule was a bit heavy that I hadn’t been able to catch up until now. The show came back earlier this month, so I thought I should check it out. Continue reading →

TheatreNerds are for life!
5 DecThe other day, Emily and I were driving through California on our way home from an adventure, listening to my favorite XM station (72, the Broadway station). I enjoy singing along or playing the guessing game (where I try and figure out what year the show/performance is from) and thankfully, Emily also enjoys the station- since I tortured her with it all weekend. 😉 Continue reading →

Post of EPICNESS… or how I spent my SDCC 2012 vacation
18 JulI’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what to write for Action Chick’s site in regards to SDCC 2012 because I was there as a representative of sorts for her site. Unfortunately, within hours of heading south, every interview we had scheduled ended up not being a GO. This was fine- it opened up my schedule immensely! But on the other hand… it would’ve been a lot easier to write up some interviews and feel like I earned my keep than to try to write up TWO experience posts. I mean- I had to write something for my own site, right?
I’ve already thanked Stewart, but once more won’t hurt- Thanks. 🙂 He did a great job of collecting the key points and putting them together in daily posts. Heck! I was onsite and he had some info that I didn’t know. As I’d mentioned before I made the pilgrimage, I wasn’t sure what the internet situation would be during the week- so it was nice to know that someone was minding the site. 🙂 Continue reading →

Seriously, I Love You But Half Your Movies Suck
30 JunSo… I’m the kind of person who discovers an actor by catching them in something and then follows them through everything else they’ve done. When I used to work for Blockbuster 15 years ago, my video (eventually DVD) collection grew by leaps and bounds because I could order stuff I wanted for cheap. I used to own every Keanu Reeves and Tom Cruise movie ever made. (I stopped even seeing Tom’s stuff when he went nuts a few years ago) Now I have my Hugh Jackman collection. Which is a great way to waste a weekend, by the way. MmmmHugh.
Before I dig into these movies/actors- please note that I love each and every one of the actors. They’ve done some great stuff! And either I’ve met them and they are good people or someone I love has and has informed me they are. So let it be known that I am not making digs on them… I am merely examining that they have not always done the best films/projects. But as my beloved John Barrowman says about the delightful and awful, Shark Attack 3,- he did it for the money. So I assume… they did as well. And that’s just fine. 🙂 (ps… John’s famous line… NSFW)

If You Heard My MP3 Player… You’d Think Me Strange
22 JunI do not like most conventional music. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t listen to the radio (my new car has XM Satelite radio and I’ve got it set to oldies stations- Hair Nation is my fav)… which makes it a little weird when people ask my opinion about music. I can’t tell you bubkiss about who is popular now. Or even ten years ago. I’m absolutely horrible with bands… unless I adore them. And for me to adore you, as a musician or band, you have to be awesome. And generally… that means you are indie. Continue reading →
