Over the last week, the networks have announced which shows are canceled, renewed, and which pilots made the cut. It’s been both stressful and entertaining to watch. The stress came from waiting to hear if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had been renewed (it was). The entertainment from not really being attached to the shows that got canceled.
I’m too tired to think of a title for this random collection of nerdery.
21 OctThe other day was our NerdLush Halloween Extravanganza. The evening ended at midnight as I turned into a pumpkin who had to be up at 6am for classes (on a Sunday). Of course, my plan for getting a few hours of sleep was derailed by the Epic Dance Party © that happened in the street from 1 to 2am (that’d be when the cops I called came to break it up and turn off the horrific club beat “music” they’d been blasting into the night). So I’m too tired to come up with a proper post. Continue reading
Great Trek Debate, chapter 3- Those Dastardly Villains
15 NovNot too long ago I launched a poll to see who you felt was the greatest foe in the Star Trek universe. The poll is still open, but as of now the results are pretty weighted in favor of the Borg. For this chapter of the look into Star Trek, I want to take a gander at some of the villains our heroes have gone up against. Let’s start with those pesky with poll results- Continue reading
Television Graveyard- plot 2, MR & MRS SMITH
13 NovLet’s take a stroll through those television series which ended prematurely- those that didn’t quite make the cut or get the chance to really give it a go. Some of my favorites rarely get the chance to get past the first few episodes- thank goodness for DVD! This weeks series ended too soon; it had barely found it’s feet before it’s time had come. However, it did get wrapped up nicely which is super rare for shows that get canned before their time. I’m talking about Mr & Mrs Smith.
Oh Captain, My Captain… Take a Seat and I’ll Explain My Adoration for Scott Bakula
5 NovSo it’s quite obvious if you read back thru my posts that I basically have no shame. I mean… one of my earliest posts shared that I grew up crushing on Wil Wheaton and Marc Singer– who, by the way, could not be more different. And let’s not forget that in order to celebrate our success, I threw a costumed karaoke party. Shameless. Alright, probably not as shameless as my friend Jacqui– ask her, she’ll tell you she has absolutely no shame. Continue reading
The Great Trek Debate, chapter 1- Captain
2 SepI was raised, as loyal readers know, on classic Star Trek. So when a new series starts, you better believe I’m there watching. Of course, there hasn’t been a new one for a bit but series come out on Hulu and Netflix, as well as HD DVD releases all the time, so it’s a perfect time to catch up!
So as I began watching Enterprise on Amazon, I started thinking about some of the strengths of Star Trek. Let’s start these posts with a look at the captains. Continue reading
