FanGirl Squee! First crush? First fanletter? Who did your nerd heart love?

9 Apr

Alright… I’ve admitted many times that I am a geek. I am a nerd. I am… the person who’s only ever written one fanletter and I wrote it before I was 10 years old. To the hottest guy EVER- Wil Wheaton. Shut it. He wrote back. Or at least he (or his mom more likely) sent me a signed photo. Which I would kill to still have. Alas… it is gone. (And super sadness… though we’ve spoken via twitter and email, and met at W00tstock, I have failed to ever get a picture with him. One of my first fangirl crushes. I have his autograph on my W00tstock posters but… no pic. And I even failed to find him {& his lovely wife} at WonderCon 2012!) Someday I shall have my fangirl dream come true. 😛

But if I’m really honest… my first crush wasn’t Wil Wheaton… it was Marc Singer in both the original V and Beastmaster. Sorry, Wil, but come on! I was like 3 or 4 and this was the guy who could save the whole planet! In any case, some of my mothers friends did not approve of my saying that Marc Singer was hot. I’m hoping it’s because I was so young at the time and not because they disapproved of my adoration for an action hero. Come to think of it, Marc Singer and his performances at that time are probably some of the reason why I love action movies more than most anything else. Though, I know that has a lot more to do with my memories of seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark when I was little, and how strong that memory is. But that is a story for another post.

So… my question is this- who was your first geek crush? Have you ever written a fanletter? To whom? Who held your nerdy affections? Tell me your tale!

Understanding the context of it being a crush? Nicholas Brendon. (I was 13 when “Buffy” started!). Before I really knew what a crush was? David Lopez as Alex in PBS’ Ghostwriter. 🙂
