Light & Dark… Black & White… Good & Bad… who would you rather be?

Last year I wanted to learn more about creating “crazy” characters and utilized social media to reach out to actors, writers, and creators in order to learn the different perspectives. As a mental health professional, I have found that I lose a bit when I watch something as I tend to sit and observe the characters- looking to diagnose, to see their flaws, to learn who they are, etc. Usually I can turn it off and focus on the story but sometimes it is harder than others. Especially after a long day with clients.

I’m too tired to think of a title for this random collection of nerdery.

The other day was our NerdLush Halloween Extravanganza. The evening ended at midnight as I turned into a pumpkin who had to be up at 6am for classes (on a Sunday). Of course, my plan for getting a few hours of sleep was derailed by the Epic Dance Party © that happened in the street from 1 to 2am (that’d be when the cops I called came to break it up and turn off the horrific club beat “music” they’d been blasting into the night). When my worlds collide- the creation of crazy in a character

For years, I’ve been curious — what does a script actually say when it calls for a character to be crazy? I know it seems like a weird thing to wonder, but not if you really know me. I have degrees in Psychology and the focus of my research, work, education, and life is a severely dysfunctional population.
