Ok, first off… of the people who have written for NerdLush, I am probably the least one to be considered a gamer. Of any kind. I enjoy a good board game but haven’t played one in years because I lived too far from friends, my friends pull the “old and married” card, or… 2020. And while I own multiple game systems, I cannot play many games.
Let’s take a moment to think about our sanity!

Did you know they play Dungeons & Dragons in prison?
Me either.
Also, MAGIC The Gathering.
Who knew, right? Continue reading
Stand up for your nerd self! Nerd Power!
26 SepHad to sit through a training on self care for clinicians today, i.e. how to take care of myself so that I can take care of my clients. Not a bad training, as trainings go, but personally I figured out my own self care approaches while in grad school- the first time. It did strike an idea- what are some self care ideas for my nerd peers? I mean, there are a lot of easy self care and coping skills that healthy adults use all the time, but are there any that strike me as key for ideas for nerds? Or what can be tweaked to be specific?
So I made a list Continue reading
Guest Post!!!~ Oreo.. Oreo.. How tasty art though, Oreo?
2 SepToday a new guest poster joins NerdLush, Madame Laura! In her own words- “I worked for several years at an environmental laboratory but am currently a stay-at-home mom of 2. My all-time favorite geeky TV series are the X-Files and anything Star Trek from TNG onward. I am a long-time World of Warcraft player and have made many awesome friends through the game, and enjoy other Blizzard games as well. And my very favorite Nintendo character is Yoshi.” Welcome, Laura!

Drunk Year in Review
1 JanHAPPY NEW YEARRRRRR
Eliz to the beth just posted that someone should write an end of year something and I said that I could do it while drunk and SHE said DO IT so here I am after a litre of cider, some cake vodka shots, and half a bottle of expired sangria. I haven’t had much alcohol since starting my ketogenic diet, so I have like zero tolerance now. Which is pretty sad but cost effective, I guess.
So the year in review! I’m probably the least liely person to do this because a) I have the memory of a goldfish and b) I rarely get out to do things but whatever. I’m here so let’s go! Continue reading
Long Beach Comic-con
20 NovThis weekend is Long Beach Comic-con. NerdLush will be in attendance. It’s our first time. Our friend Steve Scott will be there (very excited as we haven’t gotten together in a few years!).
I’m itching to get some new interviews, so hopefully we’ll be able to make that happen while we are there. Fingers Crossed!
It’s seems like there should be plenty of fun cosplayers. And the guest list looks pretty good. So… I’m excited. Or not… as I’m sure to not get a lot of rest. But… that’s fun too.
I’m too tired to think of a title for this random collection of nerdery.
21 OctThe other day was our NerdLush Halloween Extravanganza. The evening ended at midnight as I turned into a pumpkin who had to be up at 6am for classes (on a Sunday). Of course, my plan for getting a few hours of sleep was derailed by the Epic Dance Party © that happened in the street from 1 to 2am (that’d be when the cops I called came to break it up and turn off the horrific club beat “music” they’d been blasting into the night). So I’m too tired to come up with a proper post. Continue reading
The Dirty Dozen…In Space! — Why I Still Love Mass Effect, Part 3
26 AugStewart here… and some spoilers follow in case you asked…
As promised, this installment focuses squarely on Mass Effect 2, which went from one of my most anticipated games ever to one of my favorite games ever. I’ve talked about the issues I had with the first game, from the combat mechanics to the seemingly same kind of stronghold used in the sub-missions, but those didn’t deter me from wanting to play ME2. I loved the story, the characters, and the universe BioWare created in ME1, and wanted to see how the sequel would expand upon that. And all the trailers promised a darker story, and more reveals into the Reaper menace that was looming on the horizon. Continue reading
