I’ve been sitting on my thoughts about WonderCon 2016 for a bit now because I was bitter about being there alone this year… but that wasn’t WonderCon’s fault. So I’ve decided to draft my thoughts and just move on.
Final WonderCon 2015 post- the Comic Arts Conference panel video
13 AprJoined a panel of mental health professionals, along with a novelist and journalist, to discuss the “struggle to survive and hang onto their humanity in the worst situations”, through the lens of The Walking Dead.
WonderCon 2015- panel fun times for all!
11 AprWonderCon 2015 was a celebration of popular culture and nerdery. It offered fans a chance to meet creators and artists, to see props and replicas, to meet some treasured celebrities, and even to attend panels for creators, mental health considerations, and favorite TV shows or upcoming films. (Also- lots of cosplay fun)
Essentially- any bit of nerdy fun was available. Continue reading
WonderCon 2015: the continuing adventures of this nerdy bunny
7 Apr
Trekked south this past weekend for the annual WonderCon event in Anaheim. The con continues to be a wonderful midsize event that draws a great crowd of awesome nerds. It’s certainly a smaller event than the summer shindig that is SDCC but that works in several ways- easier to breath without quite so many people, it’s easier to get in to events and panels, and without the major studios cramming the exhibit hall it gives fans a chance to actually chat with creators. A very popular panel at WonderCon 2014 centered on the subject of Psychology of Cult TV shows. A full room including a standing back row watched as a panel of psychology experts discussed the rich subject matter that made up this topic in both its fictional context and its potential real-world impact. The panel included Dr. Janina Scarlet (The Superhero Manual), Josué Cardona (Geek Therapy), Dr. Travis Langley (Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight), and NerdLush Diva herself Elizabeth Ann.
A Quick Rant about Hate Speech and FanGirls

The concrete floors are not awesome.
The immense crowds are frequently not awesome.
The hate speech is definitely not awesome. Continue reading
Hey LOOK! It’s another WonderCon post all about ME! (sorta)
10 AprIf you recall last year, when I wandered WonderCon with Charity there ended up being a post that was all about me. Kinda. All right, not really, but I like to pretend. In the interest of tradition… here is this years post from Charity at Experience LA.
Wandering WonderCon and other bunny day adventures
2 AprI’m going to start off by saying that it’s difficult to attend a con for a single day (especially when it is the last day of the con) when all of the tweets and facebook posts about the con during the previous days make you desperate to be there. I mean… the Geek and Sundry Tabletop Day was happening during WonderCon… and OMG! so many awesome people there! Which means that those people would be at WonderCon all day… which means that I fail for not being there on Tabletop Day. Sigh. Initially, I had intended to be at WonderCon all weekend but life happens and I didn’t want to miss celebrating my friend Phil X‘s birthday at his surprise party. Priorities, amiright? Sigh. Shamrock Shake Shenanigans for all!
17 MarMy friend Brian, who lives in Chicago, is my fav buddy to share Shamrock Shakes (you know, from McDs?) with. For some reason, Chicago gets them much earlier in the season than Los Angeles. So he’s been torturing me with the precious minty treat since early February. They only showed up here as the months changed.
I have no reason for sharing this with you except that today is St. Patrick’s Day and I’m wishing all of you tasty Shamrock Shakes as you celebrate. And wear your green!
