NerdLush Asks- Interview with an Author, Chapter 2 ~ Alex Langley

23 May

Sometimes new authors  (or in this case, new-ish) cross our paths and we feel the need to share them. This time we have the honor of interviewing Alex Langley, who has written some fabulous “geek” books as well as the upcoming graphic novel, Kill the Freshman, which was a Kickstarter that we helped fund last year. San Diego Comic-con 2014

26 Jun

The annual event in San Diego is rapidly approaching. Sadly, NerdLush does not appear to have an onsite representative this year. I have been going the last few years attached to the fabulous Action Flick Chick and would be there this year with the Psychology of Cult TV panel however my real life decided to conflict. The panel is scheduled for Thursday and will be awesome, so I want to encourage you to go to it. Even without my smiling face.

NerdLush writing experiment

25 Apr

Due to a double post day on Wednesday, there’s nothing ready to run today. I know… bad form. I could let it go and just skip the day, but I would prefer to run something. Personally, I’m working on my next piece looking at the psychology of characters, but it won’t be ready for a bit. And there’s a guest piece in the works on my recent panel at WonderCon (along with video of the panel), but again… not ready to run today. Here is a link to The Mary Sue review of the panel, in case you haven’t seen it. I’m kind of excited to be mentioned in The Mary Sue.

*Kermit flail*

Anyways… I think there is also a post about a sweet little kickstarter that may be running soon, but we’re waiting on the info about the project from the creators. Possibly some other guest posts, too. Along with the usual- Smallville recaps, Arrow write-ups, and other semi-regular posts around here. But today… I’ve got nothing. Continue reading

Favorite Blogs!

28 Dec

OK, confession time… It’s the end of the year and I’m on vacation (so are the rest of the NerdLush crew, apparently) and I have no posts lined up. So… the most recent posts have been thought up about an hour before they are scheduled to run. But… that doesn’t mean I don’t mean what they say! Lots of good stuff, I think. I have vacation brain and would spend the entire day in my Cookie Monster footie pjs if I could.

So… today, I’ve decided to do another list and link to some of my favorite nerdy (and not so nerdy) blogs and sites. Continue reading

The NerdLush Cosplay Rules, an update.

4 Nov

Last year, I published my rules for cosplaying via a post for Action Flick Chick. Since the basic rules became known, I’ve been thinking about additions. But until the other day, I hadn’t figured out what the next set of rules were. Well… this weekend, Emily and I (though D2 and Catie were also in attendance) attended Stan Lee’s Comikaze. This is our third trek to this event, but this was the first time we’d dressed up. Continue reading

San Diego Comic-con- I survived Con Crud!

2 Aug

This is probably the last significant post we’ll do about SDCC 2013, but I wanted to do a personal round up of my time there. Last year’s post still gets regular hits, so for some reason this sort of thing is of interest.

Convention Do’s & Don’ts… Or How to Survive a Weekend of Convention Fun.

17 Jun

Well… someone asked the other day what some of the things she needed to do to prep for SDCC (her first trip). I thought I’d put together a list of important things to remember when attending a convention but other than my CosPlay rules, I couldn’t find anything. Guess that means I need to write it.

Let’s start with the important things to do when attending a con… Continue reading

Wandering WonderCon and other bunny day adventures

2 Apr

I’m going to start off by saying that it’s difficult to attend a con for a single day (especially when it is the last day of the con) when all of the tweets and facebook posts about the con during the previous days make you desperate to be there. I mean… the Geek and Sundry Tabletop Day was happening during WonderCon… and OMG! so many awesome people there! Which means that those people would be at WonderCon all day… which means that I fail for not being there on Tabletop Day. Sigh. Initially, I had intended to be at WonderCon all weekend but life happens and I didn’t want to miss celebrating my friend Phil X‘s birthday at his surprise party. Priorities, amiright? Sigh. Nerdplosion episode 5~ the link!

24 Jul

Eh, this is a short one to share- if you haven’t already seen- that my SDCC post written for Action Chick went up recently- wherein I lament the lines, avoid Con Crud, and share what it’s like to attend (for those who’ve never been). Not much else to share in regards to this… I think that this finishes up the SDCC craziness for another year and thus you may now return to regularly scheduled lives. I hope you’ve enjoyed the tidbits and info as much as we here at NerdLush have enjoyed putting stuff together for you!
