Binge Something: DOOM PATROL

Stewart here…

Welcome to the first of a semi-regular column here where I’ll be recommending and filling you in on geeky shows worth your time (and maybe not your time) to check out for yourself.

So I finally caught up in Disney+

4 Jul

Last year some time a lovely pal gave me access to their Disney+ account and I started watching the Marvel shows. But as happens… life happened and I only got through 1 and a little more before I returned to my binges of The Simpsons and Family Guy, etc. Bless that friend for the opportunity but I needed a real kick in the pants to actually sit down and watch things. Which happened recently as I got my own account and eventually shared with my family.

So I wanted to take a few minutes to jot down my thoughts and reactions to some of the shows. Basically everything is at least 6 months (minus Obi-Wan Kenobi) old, so expect there to be spoilers within. Also, this is going to be fairly random- stream of consciousness reactions here.

A Couple Rambley Thoughts on Buffy’s 25th

12 Mar

So I wanted to say a few things about Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s recent 25th anniversary (holy crap, 25?!?)…

Smallville is still my happy place

18 Nov

Recently, Smallville celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. I was inspired to spend that weekend (one where I happened to be under the weather) vegging on the couch rewatching the series. I initially decided that I would jump around, skipping episodes, but then I got caught in a season I hadn’t watched in a long time and it’s been a full binge ever since. Let’s just assume there be spoilers here for anyone who hasn’t watched the series… Continue reading

Restarting The Writing Engine

15 Jul

Stewart here…

Wow. Very weird writing that again for this blog, but yet I’m here doing it. This post is both an apology and a slight exploration of why I stopped posting here for a while last year and until now. Like a lot of you, 2020 sucker punched me hard. I’ve never been what you would call a extroverted kind of guy, so the idea of having to stay in more than usual didn’t bother me. But what happened was something worse: my need to write became harder. Continue reading

I have to confess…

24 Mar

I have a confession. It isn’t going to be news if you follow us on Twitter but… I have an obsession with Tyler Hoechlin’s eyebrows.

They communicate. They express everything… I am desperate to learn their language and be one with the brows. Continue reading

Oh what a year it’s been! Surviving Coronapocalypse!

17 Mar

It’s been a year, right? 2020 into 2021, Coronapocolypse. Hopefully, we are finally heading out of this with people getting vaccinated and being willing to continue with precautions for the time being (I won’t comment on people who refuse to wear their masks, who choose to support businesses who refuse to follow the rules, or those who continue to think that Covid-19 is nothing- I am sure you can probably imagine my opinion). But I want to talk to you about what I have learned in the last year. Some of it is personal and some of it is stuff that I have chosen to work on in order to better myself. Continue reading

Too many trailers, too many teases

24 Feb

Today, I want to talk about why I never watch trailers and hate casting spoilers. Whenever a new movie or tv show starts teasing something upcoming, they release teasers and trailers. They run on TV and before movies. We all know this, right? Well… I hate them. Mostly.

I know. Unpopular opinion. But I have my reasons. Continue reading

Gaming as a non-gamer

17 Feb

Ok, first off… of the people who have written for NerdLush, I am probably the least one to be considered a gamer. Of any kind. I enjoy a good board game but haven’t played one in years because I lived too far from friends, my friends pull the “old and married” card, or… 2020. And while I own multiple game systems, I cannot play many games.
