I was not the biggest My Chemical Romance fan, but I knew enough about them and liked enough of their music to note around 2007 the news that one of the band’s main talent, Gerard Way, was going to be writing a comic book. It’s not unusual to have celebrities writing comics, but in 99 out of 100 cases, it tends to be someone else doing the writing as a surrogate for said celebrity. But I was intrigued enough to pick up the first issue of that series, The Umbrella Academy, and by the end, I was hooked. Collecting Collectibles

Whether you realize it or not, everyone collects something that is important to them. As kids, we collect toys- had to have all the Star Wars toys when I was little, not to mention the “Cabbage Patch” and “Barbie” dolls I had- and sometimes that continues as adults. We may collect trading/sports cards. Or even something like stamps.

Deadpool is everything it should be and so much more

What else needs to be said past- Deadpool was awesome and you should go see it? Well, obviously, the fact it is a HARD R needs to be mentioned- but honestly, if you don’t know that by now, you must be living under a rock.

Here comes…Daredevil, the season review without fear!

Stewart here…and slight spoilers ahead…

Being a longtime comics reader, I have a certain affinity for Daredevil, the blind hero of Hell’s Kitchen. I would drop in and out of the book in the last twenty plus odd years, but the most consistent I’ve been with Daredevil is during an insanely great run in the 00’s from writer Brian Michael Bendis, and subsequently writer Ed Brubaker. In that run, lawyer Matt Murdock and his crime-fighting alter ego went through an insane ringer of stuff, like his identity being made public, basically taking over Hell’s Kitchen, getting sent to prison, getting married, going crazy, and ending up running the lethal clan of assassins known as The Hand (I could mention what happened after that where he was possessed by a demon and tried to take over New York, but I rather not). In recent years, he’s gotten a better break in things, moving to San Francisco of all places, but clearly that’s not where this Netflix based Marvel TV show is placing itself. Like the eponymous movie of the same name (and for a better word on that than mine, check out the How Did This Get Made podcast episode on that), we’re staying in New York for this new take on Ol’ Hornhead.
