For years, I’ve been curious — what does a script actually say when it calls for a character to be crazy? I know it seems like a weird thing to wonder, but not if you really know me. I have degrees in Psychology and the focus of my research, work, education, and life is a severely dysfunctional population.
The Four Letter Word in Sci-Fi Shows: Cancelled
11 FebIt’s that awful moment during November sweeps, or during summer, refreshing your internet feed on twitter and tumblr when you see it- your favorite show has been CANCELED. Saddened and dismayed you take to the internet, posting comments and signing petitions, uploading rants about networks and their executives to YouTube After a few days, sometimes a few weeks in rare occasion, the average person moves on to another show, another fandom. Still, there are always shows that linger in people’s thoughts years after cancellation with fans always hoping that somehow the show will find a resurrection, as Firefly found with Serenity (although lets be honest, most of us would back a Kickstarter campaign to bring the show back in any form), Futurama found with another network, and of course the resurrection of Doctor Who in 2005, now one of the most popular shows in both Britain and the USA.
Community, no not the TV Show.

I thought long and hard for a few days of what to write for my first blog post, after all there’s so much going on right now with Marvel, Star Wars and every Mark Millar comic being turned into a movie, it makes choosing a subject a lot easier with such a huge pool to pick from.
But I wanted to write something that means a lot to me and that most likely means a lot to you to.
The geek community. Continue reading
Faster, faster, must go faster! Or err… something like that.
7 FebFair warning- this is rambly. Even for me.
So, remember how I recently wrote about my plague and the end result was viewing the new Primeval: New World? And how in doing so I also ended up watching the original UK version, Primeval? Well… I did. I felt I needed an understanding of the concept in order to understand the new show. Actually, I don’t think you need to know more than the gist I wrote about in the other piece but since watching a few eps turned into marathoning all 5 seasons (36 episodes), I think it deserves a little love too.
Do I hear a waltz? Track 2
3 FebI’m back with more music talk! I don’t listen to the radio, so when I find new music it is usually something that’s been recommended to me or a band/singer that I happened upon when out to see someone else. In this post, I want to share my thoughts about the latest from a dear friend as well as some other wonderful CDs. Continue reading
NerdLush celebrates… Alright fine, we just like parties.
1 FebThe one year anniversary of NerdLush is coming! On March 19th, this little site will have been trucking along for a full year! And we want to celebrate! Alright, ya caught me- we just like parties.
But it’s true, we want to celebrate with our fans and friends the success of our little site. Unfortunately… March went and filled up on us before we were able to get stuff in motion! So… we’ve got our shindig scheduled for April 6th… a few weeks late, but who cares! It’s a party. Plus, this date allows us to also celebrate the spring birthdays of some of the crew. Epic party!
We’re planning a theme this time… currently debating between two ideas- both are beholden to the imagination of the guest. So help us out and vote for one in our poll!
Want to come to the party? It’s invite only but we want you there! Drop us a line at NerdLush@gmail.com and we’ll get you the details!
“Shatner’s World, We just live in it….”
26 JanDee2 here:
Captain’s Log, Stardate 01:18:2013, the ship’s entertainment correspondent and I went out to explore the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara, Ca. to see the one-man show “Shatner’s World.”
Do I hear a waltz? No, but I hear some ROCK & ROLL!
24 JanBeen a wee bit since I went on about my musical taste but I’ve gotten a few new albums lately- some artists that I love and others that are new to me- and I wanted to share. Let me say this first- this is all opinion based; I am not trained in anything musical nor do I have much of a knowledge other than my own taste. I cannot tell you that a piece of music is important or special because it blah blah blah… all I can say is what I feel about the music and how it moves me. I can tell you what I like and what I don’t. Take it as opinion, not fact, and if what I say intrigues you- then check out the music for yourself and let me know what you think. Now that I’ve laid out that disclaimer, let’s begin. Continue reading
Excuse me, waiter, there’s a dinosaur in my soup.
20 JanSo, I was struck down recently with something nasty- not the Flu, but just as lacking in fun- and it left me unable to do much more than lounge around watching TV. Which of course means that I’ve been catching up on stuff I’ve missed over the years etc. Everyone remembers my recent dive into Eureka, right? Well, as is my usual thing, I’ve been hunting other projects the cast has done. If I like someone’s performance in one thing, I like to know what else they’ve done. I got into Warehouse 13, watched some fun (and not so fun) movies, etc- most of this stuff I’ll write about later- and then allowed myself to watch a new series, that hadn’t even finished airing it’s first season! Welcome to Primeval: New World
NerdLush Party! We’re finally posting the party video!!
6 JanRemember back in September when we hosted a karaoke party? The costumed karaoke party of awesomeness? Well… I finally finished the clip video. Full of fun, friends, and singalongs! Enjoy!
