I’m back with more 80’s movies that I love. Many of the movies on my list are in my current DVD collection (or they were in my VHS collection), but they are all things that I’ll watch over and over when I land on them on cable… Continue reading
I still love 80’s movies!
16 FebThe other day I was linked to an article that claimed 80’s movies were better than today. I agreed with every point they made and it inspired me to think about my favorite 80s movies. I thought about making a top ten list, but I really couldn’t rank the titles that I loved- my love for them changes daily. So I thought I would take a post, or two, and list out some of my favorite films from my childhood. I would love to hear some of your favorites and/or your thoughts on these films in the comments! Is there a war on Westerns?
14 FebWhen was the last time Hollywood made a good Western? The early 90s with Unforgiven, probably. Though the two Earp movies from that time period were good too. But it’s like Hollywood lost the ability to create a Western. Which is sort of insane considering that the genre exists because Hollywood was the master of the Western for generations.
Highlights of 2013, a NerdLush year in review
13 JanMany thanks to Emily for starting the year off with a drunk year in review. Made me laugh. But I’m poking my head in now with a slightly more serious look back at 2013 and where it took NerdLush. As well as some of the favorites, as voted on by fans. Continue reading
Drunk Year in Review
1 JanHAPPY NEW YEARRRRRR
Eliz to the beth just posted that someone should write an end of year something and I said that I could do it while drunk and SHE said DO IT so here I am after a litre of cider, some cake vodka shots, and half a bottle of expired sangria. I haven’t had much alcohol since starting my ketogenic diet, so I have like zero tolerance now. Which is pretty sad but cost effective, I guess.
So the year in review! I’m probably the least liely person to do this because a) I have the memory of a goldfish and b) I rarely get out to do things but whatever. I’m here so let’s go! Continue reading
Holidays are here again!
20 DecWe’re just days away from Christmas and the New Year. Hanukkah and Thanksgiving are already passed- and joyous they were! And Kwanzaa is just around the corner as well.
Personally, I’m heading home to spend the next couple of weeks loafing around at my moms. Awwww, bliss.
I wish all of you joyous holiday season, from all of us at NerdLush. Continue reading
Man of Steel, take 2
30 NovThe other day I was sitting around with a friend who admitted he had not seen the recent Superman film, Man of Steel. I saw it in the theater when it came out- didn’t love it- but I had recently gotten the blu-ray (not because I felt it had likely improved or that my opinion had changed but because I own all the Superman films, even Quest for Peace) and it was determined that we should watch it. So we did.
My opinion has not changed; it still isn’t a good Superman film. Continue reading
My non-spoilery THOR: THE DARK WORLD review
12 NovLook, if you haven’t seen Thor: the Dark World yet, you really need to. I mean, if you like superhero movies. I won’t spoil you with any details here- but the gist of my review is that if you like this sort of thing, you should go see it.
If you could… Would you?
23 OctLast night I went with a friend to see a screening of the new Rachel McAdams movie, About Time (in theaters on November 8th). It was not what I expected. It was so much more. I honestly loved it. I’m not saying it was oscar caliber or anything- it’s rom com inside a dramedy; but it’s sweet and touching and funny and heartfelt. I loved it.
But it made me wonder- If you could… would you? Continue reading
