This is one of the posts where I mention that I adore living in L.A. OK, sure, there’s traffic and there are people whose mere existence in the universe make you want to punch them… but there are also awesome things that happen here- and probably not likely to occur elsewhere.
On The Road Again… SDCC 2012 Here We Come!
10 JulThis time tomorrow I will be on the freeway heading from LA to San Diego in the annual Nerd Pilgrimage. I missed San Diego Comic-Con last year so I am super excited to be attending this year. I usually attend, with my brother (see here and here for explanations as to why), on behalf of Evil Squirrel Comics in Chicago. I love ESC- it’s my home away from home. This year, however, James and I have a new boss and shall be working for my other home away from home- Action Flick Chick. In the last few weeks, it’s been fun getting an idea of who we may end up talking to for AFC. Certainly made our usual moseying around a little more difficult, but goodness knows- we are up to the challenge! Continue reading
Random Questions with Tara & Yuri!
8 JulRecently, I accepted a mission from the Action Chick herself (really… who wouldn’t?) to interview Tara Platt & Yuri Lowenthal, the masterminds behind the webseries, Shelf Life. Of course, I had not heard of the show prior to this so I ran over to youtube to catch up. Which was helpful when I started working out questions- special thanks to Stewart for his suggestions, too! But as a psychologist, I’m a big fan of random questions- I find that you can learn a lot about someone with a bit of randomness. We had quite a few laughs during the interview but these random questions didn’t quite fit my write-up. Too good not to share, so here’s an excerpt from the interview- Continue reading
We Can’t Help But Have Nerd Adventures
15 JunWe tried to have a normal day- Emily came over to hang out, play some video games, watch some Farscape, and be here with me when my new mattress was delivered. But on our way home from lunch- where we got a spot, on Hollywood Blvd, directly in front off the restaurant we were going to- our troubles began. So we made a video for you. 🙂
NerdLush asks… well not really…
8 JunMore like, NerdLush got asked. Our friend, Natasha- who you might remember from the author interview last month– asked “@NerdLushDiva I want to hear all about Jellyfish Vs Betta Fish. Write it from the point of view of Bishop Tutu (still love that name!)” via twitter. And since I’m drawing a blank for topics today- I’ll answer. Continue reading
Geek cred… I come by it honestly
7 MaySo… I was born to be a geek. There really was no way to stop it. My mother was Star Trek TOS fan and my father… well, that’s not important. My mother has told me many times about watching the moonlanding with Grandpa. And I fondly remember playing pong on Grandpa’s computer… the one before his Commodore 64. Continue reading
Week of Geek
25 AprProbably won’t make many posts like this often as adventures tend to get their own posts and not a jumbled collection… but this week has been full of mini geekery and I feel like sharing some of it. Continue reading
