Convention Do’s & Don’ts… Or How to Survive a Weekend of Convention Fun.

17 Jun

Well… someone asked the other day what some of the things she needed to do to prep for SDCC (her first trip). I thought I’d put together a list of important things to remember when attending a convention but other than my CosPlay rules, I couldn’t find anything. Guess that means I need to write it.

That pretty much sums up last weekend for me.

Last weekend members of the Stargate cast from SG1, Atlantis and Universe were in Birmingham, England for Massive Events’ annual Stargate convention – Chevron.  Continue reading

Wandering WonderCon and other bunny day adventures

2 Apr

I’m going to start off by saying that it’s difficult to attend a con for a single day (especially when it is the last day of the con) when all of the tweets and facebook posts about the con during the previous days make you desperate to be there. I mean… the Geek and Sundry Tabletop Day was happening during WonderCon… and OMG! so many awesome people there! Which means that those people would be at WonderCon all day… which means that I fail for not being there on Tabletop Day. Sigh. Initially, I had intended to be at WonderCon all weekend but life happens and I didn’t want to miss celebrating my friend Phil X‘s birthday at his surprise party. Priorities, amiright? Sigh. Shamrock Shake Shenanigans for all!

17 Mar

My friend Brian, who lives in Chicago, is my fav buddy to share Shamrock Shakes (you know, from McDs?) with. For some reason, Chicago gets them much earlier in the season than Los Angeles. So he’s been torturing me with the precious minty treat since early February. They only showed up here as the months changed.

I have no reason for sharing this with you except that today is St. Patrick’s Day and I’m wishing all of you tasty Shamrock Shakes as you celebrate. And wear your green!

Finally posting SDCC videos… Joss pt 1

29 Nov

Yeah, so I suck. In July I wrote about SDCC and how awesome it was and promised I would have my videos up soon… but it’s almost December and I’ve just barely started posting them! Here is pt 1 of Joss Whedon’s panel on the Friday of SDCC. I had to post to my other youtube page because I didn’t want to cut it- though it’s still in two pieces. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll post pt 2 soon, and I also have the Buffy panel from Sunday to post.

Old Adventures… Salute to Supernatural 2007

6 Sep

While living in Chicago for a short time, I didn’t get out and do as many nerdy things as I’d liked- I’ve actually done more nerdy things in Chicago since I moved back to California! But one of the things I did do was head out to the Creation Con Supernatural event in 2007. At the time, I’d never seen Supernatural (I was working on my masters, had only public TV, and was very sheltered due to being a California kid living in a city that actually had WEATHER!) so I opted to go to the con for two reasons- two guests that I adored and a few friends from around the state were heading in for it. However, I came out of the weekend with a love for Jared and Jensen (damn them for being awesome) and a need to watch the show. Continue reading
