This is one of the posts where I mention that I adore living in L.A. OK, sure, there’s traffic and there are people whose mere existence in the universe make you want to punch them… but there are also awesome things that happen here- and probably not likely to occur elsewhere.
Our Curiosity has been piqued!

Mars is easily my favorite planet. In middle school, in order to get into the super fancy engineering academy high school, I wrote an essay about how much I wanted to be the first woman on Mars. And I have evey intention of one day taking a vacation to Mars (probably when I’m elevendy.) So, with that being said…
WE JUST LANDED STUFF ON MARS!!!!!!!!!!!! Continue reading
DVD Commentaries… yay or nay?
5 AugAs I watch my Farscape DVDs (or the recently released Leverage s4), I’ve taken to watching the commentaries- something I usually only do after having watched the show/film multiple times first. Continue reading
Site News!
19 JulMade a quick update to the ABOUT page and added the rest of my crew. 🙂
And if you haven’t poked your nose over to the Fangirl Squee ~ Oh, the People I’ve Met page… it, too, has been updated. So far, it’s just the people I’ve met… but I should poke the rest of the crew and get them to share their pics too. 🙂
I hate posting on off days but I don’t think this post is important enough to make y’all wait. HAHA. I just wanted to point out the updates. And please… we welcome all comments and LIKES on posts… make my authors feel like someone is reading! I know you are- I can see the stats. But it’d be nice to hear from ya.
Where’s the science?, take 2
16 JulA few weeks ago I was inspired by conversations with friends and the constant rumblings in my head to write a post asking where the science in my science fiction was. The response was great! And essentially it came down to the audience, money, and storytelling. Which is to say that most audiences don’t care if there’s sound in space (people actually complained when Whedon’s Serenity was silent in space!), money issues say that production needs to move faster and thus not focus on reality but instead- tell the story. And on that note, the story may use some realism but to be completely realistic may slow the story or add too much depth/bulk when it’s better for the story to use quick basics.
It makes me sad, but I understand. I just think that sometimes a bit more realistic science would be nice. Continue reading
Nerdplosion~ episode 4… I (sort of) Survived SDCC!
16 JulJust a quick post to let you know that yes, your hostess survived the annual nerd pilgrimage. I want to thank Stewart for stepping up and providing great news posts! I will be writing something ASAP to share the on-sight experience. And did you get a chance to read Emily’s addition?
I also want to mention that the interview I alluded to in the recent Random Questions post– talking with Tara & Yuri from Shelf Life, the series, went live on Action Flick Chick the other day. You can find part 1 here and part 2 here. I hope you enjoy the interview as much as we enjoyed doing it! It was a laugh riot- seriously. And definitely check out Shelf Life!
I’m exhausted from days on end of geekiness and crowds, so I’m going to take my brother back up north and then veg today as I get my thoughts in order. I’m afraid if I sit to write anything right now… it would end up pretty much gibberish!
Random Questions with Tara & Yuri!
8 JulRecently, I accepted a mission from the Action Chick herself (really… who wouldn’t?) to interview Tara Platt & Yuri Lowenthal, the masterminds behind the webseries, Shelf Life. Of course, I had not heard of the show prior to this so I ran over to youtube to catch up. Which was helpful when I started working out questions- special thanks to Stewart for his suggestions, too! But as a psychologist, I’m a big fan of random questions- I find that you can learn a lot about someone with a bit of randomness. We had quite a few laughs during the interview but these random questions didn’t quite fit my write-up. Too good not to share, so here’s an excerpt from the interview- Continue reading
Happy ID4!
4 JulShortly after I graduated high school, a tradition began… spending part of the Fourth of July killing aliens that are trying to destroy us and take over our planet. With a little help from Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum’s glorious swagger… we managed to fend them off every year. Happy Fourth of July everyone!
Why so sexy mister undead man?
26 JunSeriously… why are we so drawn to vampires? And now zombies- OK, maybe we aren’t attracted to zombies, but we are drawn to them (and no, please don’t start a conversation about bath salts here). And werewolves- OK, technically not undead but… OMG! what draws us to these creatures of the supernatural?
I really want to know. Continue reading
