Our Curiosity has been piqued!

5 Aug

Mars is easily my favorite planet. In middle school, in order to get into the super fancy engineering academy high school, I wrote an essay about how much I wanted to be the first woman on Mars. And I have evey intention of one day taking a vacation to Mars (probably when I’m elevendy.) So, with that being said…

WE JUST LANDED STUFF ON MARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

(In case you’ve been living under a rock, or solely watching the Olympics  (go Sarah Robles!)…. The Curiosity Rover landed today in what was a pretty huge feat in science/history/mankind. I could go on for pages about what it had to do to land on the planet, but I’m tired so just go here.

So tonight I had my TV running the Curiosity simulator (Eyes on the Solar System) and the NASATV on the laptop so I was all Mars, all the time. And it was fucking awesome.

So this is how I spend a casual Sunday night, how about you?

So congratulations NASA, JPL, and all those wonderful people who have just made this little nerd girl extremely happy. LANDED STUFF ON MARS!

I don’t know about you, but I think I need to go watch me some original Total Recall…

I said it in one of my FB updates but I’ll say it here too, I’m not ashamed to admit that science made me cry a little tonight. This is probably one of the biggest and most amazing things that’ll happen in our lifetimes. Just… amazing.

Also… I love that most of the NerdLush crew was off in our own little corners, watching the whole thing- together in the way that the internet has helped bring people together. Science, bitches. 😉
