Let me tell you why I love Leverage

26 Jul

So the fifth season of TNT’s Leverage is off to a fine start and now that the hullabaloo of SDCC has died down, I can move on to discussing new topics- which translates to: I want to talk to y’all about my love for Leverage. If you don’t know the show, I hope this post will entice you check it out. If you do… I hope you will post your thoughts. Love to chat with some other fans.

FARSCAPE Revisited Mini-caps / Season 1, Episodes 13-16

22 Jul

Theme music time!  I wonder if you can yodel this tune?

Stewart here…and fair warning, some spoilers lie within…

Welcome back, fellow travelers of the Uncharted Territories, for another mini-cap on Farscape.  We’re now past the midway point of season one, and the escaped prisoners on Moya have been having quite a time.  In the last mini-cap alone, Aeryn got some of Pilot’s DNA in her (along with some leftovers afterwards), D’Argo starts trying to stop being a jerkoff to John, Zhaan had to deal with Delvian insanity, and, oh yeah, Moya’s pregnant.  Yep, a living spaceship is expecting.  So with that, let’s get to it. Post of EPICNESS… or how I spent my SDCC 2012 vacation

18 Jul

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out what to write for Action Chick’s site in regards to SDCC 2012 because I was there as a representative of sorts for her site. Unfortunately, within hours of heading south, every interview we had scheduled ended up not being a GO. This was fine- it opened up my schedule immensely! But on the other hand… it would’ve been a lot easier to write up some interviews and feel like I earned my keep than to try to write up TWO experience posts. I mean- I had  to write something for my own site, right?

I’ve already thanked Stewart, but once more won’t hurt- Thanks. 🙂 He did a great job of collecting the key points and putting them together in daily posts. Heck! I was onsite and he had some info that I didn’t know. As I’d mentioned before I made the pilgrimage, I wasn’t sure what the internet situation would be during the week- so it was nice to know that someone was minding the site. 🙂 Continue reading

San Diego COMIC-CON 2012 Round-Up Day 2

13 Jul

Stewart here…

Well, its another day at the San Diego Comic-Con, and news is kind of slow here.  Nothing earth-shattering along the lines of The Sandman announcement yesterday has broken yet.  The majority of the day has been about your favorite TV shows returning this fall.  So let’s go with….

San Diego COMIC-CON 2012 News Round-Up Day -1 (Warm-Up)

11 Jul

The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) isn’t starting until Thursday (unless you count the preview night of some of the upcoming series coming up this fall later today), but that doesn’t mean early news is starting to leak in regarding some of the big announcements and events coming up.  Keep checking in over the weekend for some on the ground photos and commentary complied from from NerdLush hostess Elizabeth Ann, plus yours truly bringing you a round-up of the news (and my snarky responses) coming out of Comic-Con.

Theme music time! Time to yell incoherently!

Well, its time for another mini-cap on Farscape.  A brief recap on how things are going so far for our band of fugitives in the Uncharted Territories first, though.  John Crichton is still stuck in the wrong galaxy.  Aeryn is still “irreversibly contaminated”, D’Argo is still angry, Rygel is still full of himself, and Zhaan is still blue, although her recent excursion into the darkside is not reassuring.  Oh, and the Peacekeeper commander Crais who is hunting them?  He’s pretty much hiding his superiors’ orders to return home by killing his own officers.  So with that, let’s get to it. As Long As I Don’t Wear Tights or Spandex, Issue 3 — PAX ROMANA

28 Jun

Stewart here…

PAX ROMANA by Jonathan Hickman (Image Comics/collected)

If anything can be learned from time travel stories, its that meddling with the past can have unintended consequences.  One of the best examples of this is the now late Ray Bradbury’s classic short story A Sound of Thunder, where a simple bug being crushed changes the entire course of human history.  With all the infinite possibilities for disaster the notion of going back to the past presents, you would think such an idea would not be cavalierly pursued.  The concept of writer/artist Jonathan Hickman’s time travel world-building epic Pax Romana is that even with a unified purpose, things still can change in a surprising way. Why so sexy mister undead man?

26 Jun

Seriously… why are we so drawn to vampires? And now zombies- OK, maybe we aren’t attracted to zombies, but we are drawn to them (and no, please don’t start a conversation about bath salts here). And werewolves- OK, technically not undead but… OMG! what draws us to these creatures of the supernatural?

I really want to know.  Continue reading
