Hear ye! Hear ye! Hey you- you like Batman, right?

8 Feb

Well, I know you do. And that means that I’m going to use today’s post to bring something to your attention.

Well, actually, not me- my friend Travis Langley is. You may know Dr. Langley from twitter as Superherologist, or from his book “Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight”. I know him from both, but also as a forensic psychologist (which is my field, as well) and someone I deeply respect.

Recently, Dr. Langley has been pushing for recognition for the silent creator of the Batman. What? You didn’t know Bob Kane had help? Well, you aren’t alone!

To help get the word out about Bill Finger and his role- especially as this year would be Finger’s 100th birthday- Dr. Langley and a few others in the know are working on a kickstarter to create a documentary.

I could say more, but honestly the kickstarter page says it so much better than I could. Please go, check out the campaign, consider contributing, and at the very least share the page with others! Help get the word out!

Holy cow, Batman!

I’ve never actually recruited anyone for the NerdLush Crew- everyone has always been a guest poster or I’ve just decided they needed to post for the site. Continue reading

Little Piece of Heaven in Haven

21 Jan

Once again, I’m late to the party. Sometimes it really sucks to be a poor grad student with no TV, but then I remember NetFlix and Hulu and that everything I want to see will eventually be available there. Last year I finally checked out Eureka and Primeval (and it’s spinoff). So this year, during my recent enforced rest due to injury, I finally started watching Syfy’s Haven.

I’ve zipped through the available four seasons like I was marathoning an old favorite! Continue reading

Time to upgrade…

9 Jan

It’s that time of year, or actually, it’s the end of my latest 2-year contract and I am in need of a new smart phone. Now, I’m a Droid girl. My dislike for all things Apple is pretty powerful. However- I am willing to listen to valid arguments.  Continue reading

Favorite Blogs!

28 Dec

OK, confession time… It’s the end of the year and I’m on vacation (so are the rest of the NerdLush crew, apparently) and I have no posts lined up. So… the most recent posts have been thought up about an hour before they are scheduled to run. But… that doesn’t mean I don’t mean what they say! Lots of good stuff, I think. I have vacation brain and would spend the entire day in my Cookie Monster footie pjs if I could.

So… today, I’ve decided to do another list and link to some of my favorite nerdy (and not so nerdy) blogs and sites. Continue reading

What’s in your toy box?

26 Dec

Now that Christmas is over, let’s take a moment to be thankful for the time with family and friends, and the tasty tasty tasty food, and gifts, and not being at work. Unless you were at work, or away from family and friends, in which case I am thankful for you because I love you all. (It’s possible I’m crashing from a sugar overload… it might be best to ignore me right now). Continue reading

20 Dec

We’re just days away from Christmas and the New Year. Hanukkah and Thanksgiving are already passed- and joyous they were! And Kwanzaa is just around the corner as well.

Personally, I’m heading home to spend the next couple of weeks loafing around at my moms. Awwww, bliss.

I wish all of you joyous holiday season, from all of us at NerdLush. Continue reading

An Open Letter of Love & Thanks…

16 Dec

I have no particular topic to write about today- at least not in the sense of sharing my thoughts on a TV show, film, album, fandom, or other geeky tidbit. No, today I am going to take a minute and wish minion #1, Stewart, a very happy birthday. Continue reading

My S.H.I.E.L.D. Blacklist is Almost Hollow — Mid-Season TV Reviews

Stewart here…

Now that most of the new shows on television are going off on vacation until next year, I thought I’d spend some time talking about some of the new shows currently in my TV viewing schedule, and some opinions along with it: Continue reading
