Save yourself and avoid Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

3 Apr

To start- you need to understand that this post is MY opinion and that if you differ from it, that’s A-OK because we are two different people. Also, I will not be holding back regarding what I’m going to discuss- so assume spoilers will be presented.

Now to the topic at hand- I have seen Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Deadpool is everything it should be and so much more

21 Feb

What else needs to be said past- Deadpool was awesome and you should go see it? Well, obviously, the fact it is a HARD R needs to be mentioned- but honestly, if you don’t know that by now, you must be living under a rock.

My Review of Season One of ASH VS. EVIL DEAD!

9 Jan

Stewart here…

And mild spoilers here, but bigger ones further in…

20160106-235302.jpg

So, as I wrote in my glowing review of the first episode, I was enthusiastic about Ash vs. Evil Dead, but unsure how it would go being a ten episode season of half hour long episodes. Heck, that’s longer than the whole Evil Dead trilogy put together! So now that I have seen the whole first season, where do I stand? Generally positive, with a few concerns. But we’ll get there… Continue reading

2016 brings a lot of Nerd fun with it…

3 Jan

It’s a new year and time to look back on the last year and determine how to make this one even better. And with all of the exciting films and TV shows coming soon, 2016 is looking pretty awesome. Or it could be a miserable failure.

Taking A Leap Into (an advance first episode review of) Syfy’s THE EXPANSE!

27 Nov

Stewart here…

It seems like Syfy is going all in with spaceship based drama this year, with Dark Matter and Killjoys earlier this year, but those were appetizers for December’s The Expanse. Based on the book series by James S.A. Corey (a pseudonym for the two writers of the books, Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck), this show was one I was really looking for to, as I recently started reading the books for myself. But considering Syfy has been keeping its stable of shows relatively Earthbound, how would this sparring saga fare when translated to television? If the first episode (now available on cable on demand and YouTube ahead of its mid-December premiere) is any indication, Sci-Fi TV fans are in for a great meal.

Supergirl: do you believe a girl can fly?

21 Nov

This is not a review. There haven’t been enough episodes to truly review this series yet. This is, instead, me working out whether or not Supergirl is worth my time.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo, year 5

15 Nov

One of the great things about attending all 5 years of Stan Lee’s Comikaze is that we’ve been able to observe the convention grow and change every year. This year the event grew to having two halls of LA’s Convention Center. We noted last year that it wasn’t quite big enough for us to travel for the event to attend for multiple days- we discussed on our travels home that this year, we felt it was almost a requirement ro come multiple days.

ZappCon Year 2

24 Oct

This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend a local conventions second year event. We were able to attend last year and so were able to see how the event had grown. ZappCon, year 2, took a solid step into growing as an event we plan to attend for the foreseeable future.

It’s not a perfect event, but it did a good job of not trying to be too big too soon, and thus it can easily grow into an event to hold its own. Continue reading
