As previously mentioned in the recent Comikaze Expo post, NerdLush caught the John Barrowman panels at the convention. We also caught them on video for those not able to attend the convention… and to be honest, because we just adore the man and wanted to be able to watch the panels again.
After spending the better part of a decade in major cities, and adventuring off to parts unknown (alright, just other parts of the U.S.), it’s tough to attend a small convention and come out happy. However, after relocating back to California’s Central Valley, NerdLush has attempted to get back into the community in the area. Which means attending the inaugural year for ZappCon.
It might just be me- perhaps the recipients really enjoy these comments- but when I go to like or comment on an Instagram pic or facebook post for a celebrity I follow and see comments like below it really disturbs me. Almost scares me.
My cats are nerds. That’s all there is to it.
And yes, a lot of it is for my amusement. Like the fact that they have Yoda ear costumes for Halloween. (And every Star Wars toy available for cats)

Had to sit through a training on self care for clinicians today, i.e. how to take care of myself so that I can take care of my clients. Not a bad training, as trainings go, but personally I figured out my own self care approaches while in grad school- the first time. It did strike an idea- what are some self care ideas for my nerd peers? I mean, there are a lot of easy self care and coping skills that healthy adults use all the time, but are there any that strike me as key for ideas for nerds? Or what can be tweaked to be specific?
