Last year, I was wandering around Twitter on April 12th and noticed that a lot of people that I loved/followed were all attending a party for “Yuri’s Night”. So I said to myself, “self… what is this Yuri’s Night thing and why am I not at this party?” Oh, I looked- it was completely sold out at that point; so I bookmarked it as something to look at for this year. And then I googled the event and it’s meaning. Continue reading
Guest Post!!~ Marvel Springs ahead of Summer blockbusters with Winter soldier that won’t Fall down!
7 AprOur pal Marc is back with another guest post! Marc watches a lot of movies and reviews them on TwoOhSix.com all while defying the conventions of what a “movie critic” is typically supposed to be.
*****************************************************************
Marvel Studios continues the expansion of its super hero universe with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, an espionage thriller that is set up to change everything we know about the inner workings of the government agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Chris Evans returns in the title role and we also see newcomers Anthony Mackie and Robert Redford in addition to familiar faces like Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan and Cobie Smulders. Continue reading
This is not a review- It’s All Connected!!
5 AprThis is not a review. I cannot stress that enough.
I am currently incapable of writing a review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier because my brain is still processing. And squeeing. A lot of squees are happening in my brain.
So this is not a review. Continue reading
2014 Con Season is in full swing!
30 MarThe convention season has gone from being a late spring through early fall series of events to year round. Which makes it sort of silly to refer to it a season, but most people do not attend conventions year round- the biggest events are still centered within the traditional calendar, with smaller, regional (but good sized!) events occurring the rest of the year.
Already in 2014 we’ve seen some amazing moments happen at conventions- you all saw the pic of Stan Lee “breaking up a fight” between Lou Ferrigno and Chris Hemsworth from Wizard World Sacramento, right? Brilliant! And just this weekend, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s “Deathlok” (J. August Richards) palled around with Arrow‘s “Oliver Queen” (Stephen Amell) at Emerald City Comic-con. Astute fans also remember Richards as “Mr. Blank” in a first season episode of Arrow (he was merciless!). Continue reading
Popped the Paley Fest Cherry- Sleepy Hollow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. take the stage
28 MarThe Paley Fest is an amazing experience for fans to interact with their favorite shows. The 2014 festival is underway and NerdLush made it over for two of our favorite freshman shows- FOX’s Sleepy Hollow and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The bonus for us is that both shows have recently had posts here because they quickly became favorites this year.
The Paley Fest has been growing over the last several years- similar to how SDCC has grown immensely over the last few years- and this year moved to a new home at the Dolby Theatre. This is the home of the Academy Awards- and it looks MUCH larger on TV then it is in person. But it is a beautiful theatre and adds opportunity to increase the size of the audience. Continue reading
Guest Post!!~ I love 80’s movies, part cuatro- The Bad Ones
22 MarNerdLush friend, Jackie, is back with another guest post– this time she chimes in with her love for those 80’s movies that are so bad… you just have to love them!
********************************************************************************
I love movies.
I will watch nearly any movie at least once. Okay, maybe twice, probably three times. I hold a special place in my heart for 80s movies. In fact, I have a rather large collection of movies that were made in the 80s. I hold an even deeper, more special place in my heart for BAD 80s movies. I don’t know why, but I just adore 80s movies with cheesy plotlines, bad acting and horrible special effects and costumes. Continue reading
Nerd Adventures- Solvang, take 2
16 MarIn NerdLush’s first year, Emily and I took a day trip from LA and ran over to Solvang for some entertainment. It was quite a lovely day of fun and silliness. Continue reading
NerdLush Asks ~ Artist Steve Scott interviewed at Long Beach Comic-con
14 MarAdmittedly, it’s been a while since this video was filmed at Long Beach Comic-con last fall, but it’s never too late to share it and learn a little from an amazing comic artist and NerdLush friend. Steve Scott is probably best known as a Batman artist, prior to the “new 52”, however he has quite the library of works that he has been a part of. I met Steve a few years ago at Wizard World New Orleans, and for some reason our insanities clicked and we’ve been friends. Always a pleasure to see his work. Continue reading
