Every year there is at least one TV show that squeezes it’s way into my viewing schedule and steals my heart. In the 2012-2013 season it was Arrow. After seeing the pilot- which I loved- it was clear that the show could go either way. It could suck, burning and dying in an insane death, or it could be awesome. And it was AWESOME. So in the fall of 2013, Fox introduced a show that should’ve died after the second or third episode… but it didn’t.
Sleepy Hollow creeped into our living rooms with not only a great cast, but killer writing. In a 13 episode first season, fans were caught up in a mystery adventure, full of supernatural delight. I have a wee bit of a love of history, and literature, so I was very wary about the idea of attempting a series that is based on a classic piece…
Which is why it should have failed.
But that cast and the writing rose above what it should have been and elevated it to what it became, which is/was a delightful romp through small town upstate present day New York, educating a man out of his time who is doing just as much of his own educating… who knew there was so much witchcraft in the founding of the United States?
Honestly, I could go on and on, but I just realized that FOX has not announced season and I am currently grumpy.
But… I will be accompanying NerdLush friend, Charity, to the Paley Fest evening for Sleepy Hollow and thus am super excited to delve even further into the show!
So… I expect to be back touching on this guilty pleasure soon with a follow-up that incorporates details learned there… Til then- go on HULU etc and watch the heck out of Sleepy Hollow so I can get a second season of Tom Mison, Orlando Jones, and Nicole Beharie battling evil.
DO IT NOW.
Thank you. And when I do get my season 2, be sure to follow Orlando Jones on twitter during airings because it is hilariously awesome.
Some good news: it has been renewed for season 2. The kind of bad news: its for another 13 episodes starting in the fall. Not opposed to the amount of episodes (22 might be pushing it for a show like this), but its kind of bad news.
i can live with the shorter season as long as it stays as intense as this season was. i’ll just pretend the show is on TNT or something. 😉
also… YAY!
