Something strange has happened the last few months- we’ve gotten a large number of requests to guest post on NerdLush. Now, I think it’s really cool that people want to join us, but a lot of the requests scream SCAM/SPAM… like… they aren’t written by people that actually read our site. So I’ve decided that there should be a form to fill out if you want to guest post with us- Continue reading
2014 Emmy Nomination’s… do you agree?
10 JulThis morning, the nominations for the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. Admittedly, I have been very limited in watch I watch due to time and accessibility, but… I have to admit that I think they missed quite a few worthy nominations. Even if they didn’t win, there are still episodes and performances that should have been given the recognition of the nomination. Continue reading
Bring on Fall TV!
8 JulHiatus is over for some of our favorite tv stars/shows as table reads began yesterday and this week begins the actual filming of the first episodes of the season. And with that, the most recent round of casting announcements happen.
Happy Fourth of July!
4 JulIf you’ve been playing along via the facebook or twitter feeds, you know HQ moved this week. So… I am still a little behind in what’s happening outside of HQ…
But I’ve now done the annual viewing of Independence Day. Three viewings so far today! Which, of course, has set my brain off thinking about Dean Devlin is going to do in the sequel…
Happy fireworks (be safe!), food, friends/family, and freedom!

26 JunThe annual event in San Diego is rapidly approaching. Sadly, NerdLush does not appear to have an onsite representative this year. I have been going the last few years attached to the fabulous Action Flick Chick and would be there this year with the Psychology of Cult TV panel however my real life decided to conflict. The panel is scheduled for Thursday and will be awesome, so I want to encourage you to go to it. Even without my smiling face.
Light & Dark… Black & White… Good & Bad… who would you rather be?
20 JunLast year I wanted to learn more about creating “crazy” characters and utilized social media to reach out to actors, writers, and creators in order to learn the different perspectives. As a mental health professional, I have found that I lose a bit when I watch something as I tend to sit and observe the characters- looking to diagnose, to see their flaws, to learn who they are, etc. Usually I can turn it off and focus on the story but sometimes it is harder than others. Especially after a long day with clients.
Time for a little Pomp & Circumstance
14 JunIn my real life I work at a place that understands celebrating accomplishments. Last night, I attended the semi-regular (i.e. occurring three times a year) graduation ceremony for those who have completed the program. It isn’t easy- more people fail or leave before they ever reach this milestone- so the celebration is important. On a personal note, I worked closely with four of the graduates over the last year and it was amazing to see them have their moment to shine. One was even valedictorian! Continue reading
Why Smallville will always be my own personal kryptonite
10 JunIf you’ve been paying attention you know that we love our superheroes here at NerdLush HQ. And Superman is one of our favorites (though we have equal love, apparently, for all DC and Marvel characters). We could (and probably should) sit around as a group and debate the merits of each Superman and it would likely be quite the entertaining roundtable. But since the crew is scattered, it isn’t likely to happen anytime soon.
None of that is why I am here today… I want to talk about why Smallville will always hold a special place in my heart. Continue reading
The end (or is it the beginning) of another award season
6 JunIt seems like Hollywood- or more accurately, the entertainment industry- spends the entire year patting themselves on the back and handing out awards. Honestly, I only watch one of these shows anymore- the same people/projects seem to win over and over… so there really isn’t a draw for me. But this weekend is the one show I try to catch every year- The Tony Awards.
Guilty Pleasures- MTV’s Teen Wolf
2 JunFor some time, my young friend Marina (who I have known since she was knee high to a grasshopper) has been recommending that I watch MTV’s Teen Wolf (at this point I should note that the rec actually comes from her mom, who recc’ed it to her, but that’s not the point). I always said I’d get around to it… eventually.
Well, now that I have free time and my fav shows are on hiatus, I finally have the time to watch those genre shows I’ve been putting off… And Amazon Prime having the complete series (so far) streaming for free was a pretty good push to put Teen Wolf towards the top of my list.
And what can I say- I am not above enjoying a show that has pretty guys running around shirtless (especially since this happens much more often than the girls showing skin- props to MTV).
I stayed up too late the other night to finish my marathon and am now super sad that I have to wait for the next season! Which, by the way, starts on June 23rd.
Oh, and um… SPOILERS ahead. Continue reading
