ARROW Season 7×13, “Star City Slayer” recap

13 Feb

Welcome back, Arrowheads! When last we left our heroes, the Team got officially deputized as cops, which solves a lot of that pesky anti-vigilante stuff, right? Well we still got issues to deal with, like William being all sulky after coming home from boarding school, which we discover he got expelled from. And we also have someone stalking our heroes, leaving them threatening notes, but nothing truly horrifying happening…yet. In the future, Mia (the woman also known as “Blackstar”) takes a friend, Connor Hawke (also known as John Diggle’s son) to find the old Arrow Bunker for some reason. Now that we got that catch-up out the way, let’s get to the recap proper… Continue reading

Guest Post!!~ Attending Conventions as a Senior

18 Dec

Barbara is back to share her thoughts on attending conventions at a certain age…

*****************************************************

When I was younger (much) I took my kids to Star Trek Conventions… little ones in neighboring towns and big ones in LA. The three of us were on our own a lot and cons were a cheap way of spending the day together, having fun mostly looking. Turns out both kids were incipient nerds and enjoyed themselves very much. He got into comic books and she got into fandom.

Now I am considerably older; with the attendant aches and pains and she takes me to the cons. Continue reading

Heroes and Villains invaded San Jose for another year of adventuring!

10 Dec

For our 3rd year, we ventured over the hill from the Central Valley to hang out with some heroes and villains, and zombies too!, in San Jose. This was sort of a last minute venture due to availability issues with minions, but in the end we made plans and set out to see what there was to see.

As I write up the event and my thoughts, I am starting to think there should be classes on convention etiquette because there were several moments that were frustrating. However, there were also a lot of really good things. Did it balance out? I’m not sure… let’s talk about some of the highlights and issues and see. Continue reading

ARROW Season 7×03, “Crossing Lines” recap

31 Oct

Welcome back, Arrowheads! When last we left Oliver Queen, he had fulfilled (more or less) an arrangement with Brick to get in touch with whoever brought in those goons to rough him up in Slabside. Meantime, we met the Longbow Hunters, three mercenaries who proved to be very formidable against Diggle and ARGUS, but not enough to have the plans of Diaz, their boss, thwarted. Felicity is getting a little tired of having to look behind her shoulder now that Diaz openly attacked her, so she goes to the one person who might be able to help: FBI agent Samanda Watson. Oh, and we won’t be discussing and flashforwards this episode because there wasn’t any. Anyhoo, let’s just get into it… Continue reading

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we left Prisoner 4587: Oliver Queen, he had been trying to keep low and do his time in Slabside Prison. But leave it to an attack on him and Felicity by Ricardo Diaz to put him back into a more proactive position. As for the rest of Team Arrow, they are adjusting to life not crimefighting in masks, and discovering that there’s someone else wearing the hood of the Green Arrow in town! Well, I’ll save you some time and tell you we don’t get an answer to who it is this episode, but as to how our heroes will deal with the returning Diaz? Read on, then… Continue reading

ARROW Season 7×01, “Inmate 4587” recap

16 Oct

Welcome back from the summer break, Arrowheads! As you might recall from the end of last season, Team Arrow took some serious crippling blows in the battle against bad guy Ricardo Diaz. They lost Quentin Lance (sniff), and in order to protect all of them from prosecution by the FBI, Ollie made a deal to turn himself in as the Green Arrow! But we still got Diaz out there somewhere, and Oliver Queen in prison as a publicly outed vigilante. So how do we come back from all of that? Well, read on… Continue reading

30 Sep

Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads! We are finally at the end of season one, and we got lots to deal with. Ollie is patching things with Diggle while things are still icy with Tommy over Laurel (remember when that was still a thing?). ARROW Season 1 rewatch, Ep. 20, “Home Invasion” / Ep. 21, “The Undertaking”

17 Sep

Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads! When last we left everyone, Ollie lost his business partner, best friend Tommy, to him working with his dad and Ollie’s unknown nemesis, Malcolm Merlyn! And now Ollie has agreed to help Diggle take out his arch nemesis, Deadshot, which can only work out great as long as there’s no external conflict that comes between it, and that doesn’t happen on Arrow, right? And of course, our Team Arrow is still trying to figure out the whole Undertaking scheme, but know now it’s going to happen in Star City. So, let’s just jump in… Continue reading
