Notorious is guilty of being fun!

8 Nov

Much earlier than usual, I am able to declare my guilty pleasure show for the fall 2016 season- Notorious. I’ll be honest, I basically only watch my genre (superheroes/supernatural/fantasy) shows these days. I’ve stopped watching all my dramas or cop shows in the last few years since working at the prison- I’m tired when I get home and the comic book heroes don’t require a ton of thinking on my part. Bonus- they are better popcorn for the mind! So it’s weird to say that a show about a news program and a couple of lawyers is now something I look forward to.

Save yourself and avoid Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

3 Apr

To start- you need to understand that this post is MY opinion and that if you differ from it, that’s A-OK because we are two different people. Also, I will not be holding back regarding what I’m going to discuss- so assume spoilers will be presented.

Now to the topic at hand- I have seen Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Hate to keep harping on this but… Come on people! Girls like cool toys, too!

14 Mar

It wasn’t that long ago that we, and many more, were protesting the lack of Rey in the new Star Wars toys. Then I was excited to hear about the new toy line from DC for Superhero Girls. Finally, some toys aimed at girls to encourage play, imagine, and that they are just as awesome as the little boys who’ve always had those toys.

Well, I was wandering Target the other day and I found the toys. On an end cap in the back and tucked a little into the end of an aisle… Continue reading

The Flaw of Force Awakens

13 Jan

The new Star Wars returns to the beauty of the original trilogy (and the only ones worth mentioning) with the technology of today. The special effects were out of this world. And the story was fun! It was an exciting film, worth a second, third, twelfth viewing…

Community is what we make of it

28 Sep

We’ve talked a few times about friendships and community that come along with fandom and connecting with others. Personally, I think it’s a very important thing- being able to connect with others who enjoy the same things. For some people, those relationships can be some of the strongest in their lives (or even, the only meaningful relationships they have). Continue reading

Nerd Adventure! Monterey Bay Aquarium!

5 Aug

So…y’all know how much I love Jellyfish, right? Well, ever since NerdLush HQ moved to Central California, I’ve been trying to get to the coast to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and enjoy their fabulous jellyfish exhibit. It’s been a few years since my last visit and I recently found out that the Jellyfish Experience exhibit will be closing after Labor Day.

Hence a day trip to the aquarium! Continue reading

The good, the bad, and OMGSTOPTALKING of the internet

1 May

Recently the internet was in an uproar because the east coast cried out about an event that happened on Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t watch the show myself, but I knew from opening Facebook, well before the episode aired on the west coast, what had happened.

This happens ALL THE TIME. Continue reading

Finally had a chance to check out The Librarians. (And you should too)

2 Feb

One of the first bits of original programming TNT did was a television movie called, The Librarian: Quest for the Spear. Twenty years later, star Noah Wyle and producer Dean Devlin teemed up to produce a series that continues the adventures of the librarians. Noah’s “Flynn Carter” led three films for TNT, and came to frequently guest star within this first season show as both a lead in and something to attract fans of the films. But the rest of the cast and characters introduced in the first episode were strong enough to carry the show without Carter being around constantly.

So I went to the theatre… and learned about quantum objects.

29 Oct

I want to sit here and tell you all about NerdLush friend, Kirsten Vangsness’, one woman show, MESS, but honestly there is no way for me to describe it to you. I could tell you that it is a magical one hour plus of comedic genius- complete with musical numbers and choreography. Or I could tell you it was about kittens.

None of that actually tells you anything. But it is probably the best I can do. Continue reading

Guilty Pleasures- To Sin With TV

30 Apr

I’ve had a lot going on of late, so it’s been difficult to work my way through it all in order to write a post. Apologies. Thankfully, my favorite minion has been on the ball! But I’m pulling it together today in order to start new series of posts- Guilty Pleasures. Like the title says, these are things that I love and adore, but I feel a little guilty for enjoying it. I obviously have a lot of these- you already know of my love for the bad movie but here are some more.

Actually, to ease into it… I’m just going to talk about the TV series from this last season that I consider my guilty pleasures. Continue reading
