Recently, we had the pleasure of checking out the first stop on the Fandemic Tour, with a quick trip up to Sacramento to help inaugurate a new convention. Overall, it was quite an enjoyable convention and it is recommended to check out if a stop happens to be near you. Though as it was the first event, there are a few things that could be improved. We’ll touch on the good and bad in a bit. Continue reading

ARROW Season 1 rewatch, Ep. 10, “Burned” / Ep. 11, “Trust But Verify”
14 Jul
Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads! As you can recall, last summer I attempted to rewatch the first season of Arrow as I had not thoroughly recapped it unlike the seasons since. Well that ran into a few delays, mainly recapping all the big DC superhero shows on the CW that fall, so getting back into that groove was just impossible. Now with that season of television FINALLY done, I thought now would be the best time to finish up this season one rewatch. Fingers crossed. Continue reading →

Cinema Therapy, class is in session
29 MaySo I can’t decide if this will be a semi-regular post series or just a one off but I wanted to talk about a tool I use in my work. As most followers of this site know, I work in mental health. What you may not be aware of is that I work with incarcerated men. A very interesting, and notoriously difficult, population.
Once I realized how my nerdy interest in super heroes could help me in my work with adolescent boys, I figured that it was worth a try to get a buy-in from the adults. And it worked. So I gained a bit of a rep and I’m the one the guys run up to when they want to talk comics or movies or what have you. Not only do I work with individuals but I also run therapeutic groups- more like psychoeducation groups but still, we have some awesome discussions. When I was finally at a point where I could create my own groups I decided to run “Cinema Therapy” groups. Continue reading →

DC TV Recap Round-Up, Week 22: Doubling Up On Recaps!
26 May
Welcome back! Well, this is just a weird time for this column. Besides Arrow, we got only two other adjacent DCTV shows on right now (and don’t ask how we’re gonna address things when Flash ends it’s season ahead of Supergirl), so as a result, we’re doubling up on recaps for both Supergirl and Flash for now! That means a lot of ground to cover, so let’s get to it… Continue reading →

ARROW Season 6×23, “Life Sentence” (season finale) recap
19 May
Welcome back, Arrowheads! So we’re here at the end of season six, and things are getting tough for Team Arrow. Not only have they lost both their HQs, Ricardo Diaz has solidified his hold on Star City and whatever’s left of the Quadrant. So of course Ollie has to make a Hail Mary pass by asking for help from FBI agent Samanda Watson. All she wants to give her help is to know Ollie is the Green Arrow. He confirms that, but she asks for something else. That “something else” is what we’re about to learn about. Continue reading →

ARROW Season 6×22, “The Ties That Bind” recap
13 May
Welcome back, Arrowheads! Ricardo Diaz has been spending his time grabbing control of Star City, while slowly dismantling Oliver’s team. And Ollie’s trial for being the Green Arrow seemed like it would be the deathblow. But thanks to some smart planning from Team Arrow, Ollie gets off! So Diaz decides it’s time to just forget the subtle machinations, and go to straight up bulldozing Team Arrow and everyone around them! Well, we got this and the season finale left, so we kinda had to get here. Continue reading →

DC TV Recap Round-Up, Week 21: Supergirl is Back!
7 May
Welcome back! We’re down to really the last time we’ll get to recap more than two DC TV superhero shows this season (hence the really awkward schedule coming up for the remainder of this season’s run of recaps), with The Flash, the return of Supergirl, and the season finale of Black Lightning! With that, let’s get to the recaps! Continue reading →
