At San Diego Comic-con 2012, one of things that I looked forward to was the preview and panel for the CW’s Arrow. We caught the pilot presentation twice and loved it both times- and as you know, the first season was my guilty pleasure show this past year. So, of course we had to catch the season 2 panel. They ran a short sizzle trailer and then we got to the fun… Pardon the shakiness of the video (my brother was the camera guy and I don’t think he is used to having to hold a camera steady that long). San Diego Comic-con 2013- Joss Whedon
23 JulOne of my favorite panels is the Joss Q&A. If my brother and I make it to the con, this panel is high up on our list. It’s not the best video as my camera died right before and I had to switch and we sat in the back of ballroom 20, but… it is complete (minus 1 question in the middle) and is a lot of fun. If you’ve never had the opportunity to listen to Joss… enjoy! Continue reading
SDCC News Round-Up, Day 1
19 JulStewart here, and welcome to the first of several posts on news coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While I am not in San Diego, Elizabeth Ann is, enjoying the sights and sounds (and likely the sweat smell), like Wednesday night’s showing of new pilots, like Almost Human, from the producers of Fringe, which I hear is something worth checking out in the fall. Since most of the heavy news didn’t happen on day one (the big panels are this Friday and Saturday), this gives me a chance to focus on comic news in this installment. But first:
TV! Continue reading
Get your geek on!
17 JulI’m leaving… on a jet plane! Or actually, I’m sitting on my couch waiting for my brother to get here so we can drive to San Diego.
Stewart will be posting some info from SDCC… I’ll try, but who knows what kind of connection I’ll have.
What am I looking forward to the most? Spending days in the Nerd Mecca. I don’t have a specific thing I want to see… but I’m sure to find many awesome things to come back and share.
I’m already tired though… And ready for a nap.
San Diego Comic-con 2013 Countdown
15 JulDue to a last minute ticket, my brother and I are off to SDCC 2013 this week. I posted before about our previous adventures. Hopefully, we’ll have someone here at the site who can do daily wrap-ups (last year, Stewart did a great job. Think he’s up for it this year?).
I have no specific thing that we are going to see… though my brother is putting together a schedule. There are many friends there, though. We’ll definitely spend time in the big room and try to get into Ballroom 20 for some TV panels. And I have an idea for a few posts I’d like to put together. But… is there anything specific YOU’D like me get info on?
I will say that I’m super excited about no Twilight fans this year…
Don’t Let The Heat Kill Your Nerdery!
5 JulI spent this week visiting my family in Central California… I am an idiot. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family- but it’s been blazing hot there! It was 109 almost every day I was home. Soooooo very very hot!
All I could stand to do was watch TV, float in the pool, and run errands early in the day. When I left LA it was supposed to be 90. Which is hot for LA. But when I got home, I appreciated the coolness of that temp! So much more livable!
So while I ponder what things are still fun in the summer heat, first I want to put it out to you- what things do you, my fellow nerds, find to do in the summers? Any places you love to go to beat the heat? Any particular things you do?
I think that I usually hang out at home with DVDs, maybe on the cooler days take a roadtrip with a friend, and I know that I love going to the movies on hot summer days. I’ll be back with a list after I hear back from you.
What about you?
Let Freedom Entertain!
3 JulLast year I wrote a brief post about spending the fourth of July- Independence Day here in the United States- watching the “classic” Dean Devlin film, Independence Day. Had some trouble coming up with a topic for this year, but in the end I decided to make a list of some of the best things to watch on this holiday. This is totally biased to my tastes- I’d love to hear what you think!
Convention Do’s & Don’ts… Or How to Survive a Weekend of Convention Fun.
17 JunWell… someone asked the other day what some of the things she needed to do to prep for SDCC (her first trip). I thought I’d put together a list of important things to remember when attending a convention but other than my CosPlay rules, I couldn’t find anything. Guess that means I need to write it.
Let’s start with the important things to do when attending a con… Continue reading
Stepping through the gate into a new world.
11 Jun(NerdLush crew note- with this post, Guest Poster Lee Daniels joins us as a full fledged member of the crew! Welcome aboard, Lee!)

That pretty much sums up last weekend for me.
Last weekend members of the Stargate cast from SG1, Atlantis and Universe were in Birmingham, England for Massive Events’ annual Stargate convention – Chevron. Continue reading
Much Ado About… Everything.
9 JunYes, I am going to jump on the nerd bandwagon and tell you to go now and see this tiny little indie gem, from Joss Whedon and friends… Much Ado About Nothing. But let me be serious for a moment- go now. Get up from your computer and go. Well, go now if you live in New York, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Go on June 21st for the rest of the US. And honestly, I forget the date for the UK etc. So look it up and go.
“Much Ado About Nothing” is my favorite Shakespeare play. I fell in love with it in high school, when the Kenneth Branagh film was released. Til tonight that was my definitive interpretation. Continue reading
