Earlier this year, I talked about my thoughts on Arrow during its mid-season hiatus, and with the second season about to premiere this month, I thought it would be fitting to reflect back on some of the pluses and minuses of season one. There are some spoilers, so catch up before you read this: Continue reading
I’m out of posts! I’m out of time! I’m out of Music! Help!
5 OctSo… it’s one of those months. There is both too much and too little to post on. And I’m completely swamped. My brain is too tired to come up with a topic for today and sadly, I’m out of backlogged and scheduled posts.
It’s been a while since I did a music post though, and I’d really like to do another. Continue reading

As Long As I Don’t Wear Tights or Spandex, Issue 7 — GOTHAM CENTRAL
1 OctGOTHAM CENTRAL by Ed Brubaker, Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, Kano, and Stefano Gaudiano (DC / collected)
Its hard not to feel bad for the police department of Gotham City. Like any big city, they have to contend with a good amount of crime on the streets, but unlike most cities, a majority of those crimes aren’t being caused by abnormal or superpowered criminals. And then there’s that vigilante who patrols the streets dressed as a bat that they have to sometimes rely on for help. Like I said, it’s hard to be a cop in Gotham. Continue reading
Guest Post!!~ Cons and Con Artists
29 SepA new pair of guest posters joins NerdLush today with a review and commentary from the recent Con Artists movie premiere. Amelia Arender with words, Jacqueline Sherrard with pictures-
*********************************
This week I entered the world of the voice actor at the Con Artists premiere at the Downtown Independent, LA. The film is a mockumentary about “the madness of the convention circuit as seen through the eyes of two voice actors, who live in a sort of bubble of fame.” (Yuri Lowenthal) You might know Yuri – one of the writers and stars of Con Artists – by his face (Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Shelf Life), but you would most certainly know him by his voice (Ben 10, Naruto, Afro Samurai). He is not the only recognizable creator/writer behind Con Artists; but also his lovely wife, Tara Platt (Naruto, Shelf Life, Ben 10). The film follows their career as actors/voice actors, as well as the fame and fortune at the wonderful world of conventions – a.k.a. Cons( for my non convention going readers.) Continue reading

GEEK INTO SHAPE: The problem with desk jobs.
19 SepAs I’ve mentioned before, I have a desk job. It’s a very demanding job with a ton of hours- lots of overtime, weekends, you name it. I work so much that it’s customary with my job to have a person who brings me lunch to my desk so I don’t have to take the time to get up and go to the kitchen. It’s not healthy. While there isn’t much I can do about the hours, I can do something about the sitting. Continue reading
