Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or are new to the site, you are aware that we just celebrated our 1st birthday with a karaoke party. Wait… let me rephrase that- with a karaoke party of AWESOMENESS!
fun times!
First and foremost, I have to give thanks to all our friends and fellow nerds who came out to Soop Sok to celebrate with us. Heck, we had all the NerdLush Ladies
the ladies of NerdLush!
(i.e. the whole Crew, minus token male, minion #1, Stewart)(mostly because he still lives many miles and miles away from the rest of us) all in one place! And just as a nerd bonus, we had celeb guests from Fact or Faked on hand to get nerdy with us!
We had an Island Fun theme- that was generally interpreted as floral and beachy. Mike Henry (of Hard Six) sported board shorts, our DeeDee was delightful in polynesian prints, good friend Charity created a MaryAnne (of Gilligan’s Island) outfit, even friend Hally played along- in a t-shirt that read, “kiss me, I’m Irish”. Though the winner of the top interpretation of the theme prize went to our Emily for her dinosaur onesie with a cocunut bra and a pirate hat. Brilliant.

As usual, we had vocal talent judging as well- with the assistance of our traditional judge, Leila. However, this time the winning numbers contained duets- Mike and Charity with a fabulous rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and Mikey P. and our Natasha for “laying everything on the line” with their performance of “We Are the Champions”. Charity even gave us the traditional- as requested by me- “Gangsters Paradise”. And yes… they even got me up to sing. Damn them. But who can turn down the bestie when she drags you up for “I’m So Excited”. Or when the birthday buddy demands a number… I mean, it was Journey! Though Natasha and I did drag Catie up to help us convince the crowd to “Don’t Stop Believing”. Oy vey!
A few friends missed the party and they were missed but otherwise- it was an awesome shindig! Now I must nap. 😉
