The Great Trek Debate, chapter 1- Captain

2 Sep

I was raised, as loyal readers know, on classic Star Trek. So when a new series starts, you better believe I’m there watching. Of course, there hasn’t been a new one for a bit but series come out on Hulu and Netflix, as well as HD DVD releases all the time, so it’s a perfect time to catch up!

So as I began watching Enterprise on Amazon, I started thinking about some of the strengths of Star Trek. Let’s start these posts with a look at the captains. Continue reading

We’re turning 1/2!!!!!

29 Aug

September 19th-ish is NerdLush’s six month birthday! So… we’re having a party. A costume party! So here’s the thing… we’re not sure what kind of party to have! Take the poll and help us decide how to celebrate!

Secondly, if you are in the SoCal area (or close enough to drive… or plan to be in LA around the 22nd…) let us know if you are interested on being on the guest list! You can do this one of 2 ways…

1. leave an email addy in the comments
2. send an email to NerdLush@gmail.com letting us know you’d like an invite!

Movies in a minute

27 Aug

I don’t go out to the movies often because it’s too expensive. I used to, but LA theaters pretty much require a kidney before you can get in. And since I need both of mine, well… I watch a lot more DVDs then I do films in the theater. (Unless it’s a screening)

However, in the last few weeks I’ve managed to to a few summer movies- probably spoilers here. Continue reading

Serenity Flanvention, Burbank, December 2005 with guest Nathan Fillion, Adam Baldwin, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, Jewel Staite, Summer Glau, and Ron Glass. Special appearances by Jonathan Woodward, Dennis Christopher and James Leary. Oh, and some guy named Joss Whedon. Photos with cast can be found on the people I’ve met page. Continue reading

Beat the heat?

19 Aug

For some unknown reason I opted to spend last week in central California. Which is basically a desert- with farming. But reaches temps over 100* all summer. I ran out of the LA because it was in the high 80s/low 90s and basically unlivable. So I ran home… to 109*. I am an idiot. Continue reading

Heads up! Let me tell you about something NEW!

15 Aug

Loyal NerdLush readers know that we like to share new, old, and odd bits and bobs with our fans. Stewart regularly shares comics, I’ve been sharing favorite web series, and as a team we’ve been watching an old Sci-Fi show. But today I want to give you a headsup about a new project.

In just a few days- August 21st to be exact- a new web series premieres.

The Awesome Power of Nerds

13 Aug

As a geek/nerd (who really cares which I claim or am?), I enjoy following other like minded people on their sites, blogs, facebook and twitter pages, and getting links or just hearing what they are up to. The power of the internet has done so much to bring people together. In the last couple of weeks, there have been a couple pieces that I want to chat about- Continue reading

If I Can Just Have 5 Minutes Of Your Time~ Web Series reviews, issue 2, Little Brass Bird

11 Aug

I’m back! And I have another web series to discuss! But first… can I be honest? I have absolutely no clue what this series is about. I remember watching the premiere ep when it first came out because a twitter friend, Elliott, is the narrator- and I remember that even then I had no clue.

I mean… I don’t think I’ve ever been chemically altered enough to understand this show. Ever.

That being said… let’s chat about Little Brass Bird. Continue reading

I ♥ LA

7 Aug

This is one of the posts where I mention that I adore living in L.A. OK, sure, there’s traffic and there are people whose mere existence in the universe make you want to punch them… but there are also awesome things that happen here- and probably not likely to occur elsewhere.

DVD Commentaries… yay or nay?

5 Aug

As I watch my Farscape DVDs (or the recently released Leverage s4), I’ve taken to watching the commentaries- something I usually only do after having watched the show/film multiple times first. Continue reading
