I’m leaving… on a jet plane! Or actually, I’m sitting on my couch waiting for my brother to get here so we can drive to San Diego.
Stewart will be posting some info from SDCC… I’ll try, but who knows what kind of connection I’ll have.
What am I looking forward to the most? Spending days in the Nerd Mecca. I don’t have a specific thing I want to see… but I’m sure to find many awesome things to come back and share.
I’m already tired though… And ready for a nap.
Due to a last minute ticket, my brother and I are off to SDCC 2013 this week. I posted before about our previous adventures. Hopefully, we’ll have someone here at the site who can do daily wrap-ups (last year, Stewart did a great job. Think he’s up for it this year?).
I have no specific thing that we are going to see… though my brother is putting together a schedule. There are many friends there, though. We’ll definitely spend time in the big room and try to get into Ballroom 20 for some TV panels. And I have an idea for a few posts I’d like to put together. But… is there anything specific YOU’D like me get info on?
I will say that I’m super excited about no Twilight fans this year…

Smallville season two minicaps are ending, and still no invite to Lex’s wedding? Okay. Fine. See if I care.

Stewart here, and I’m bringing you a show that got canned in its pilot phase, and only by contractual obligation, got aired on television once (and made its way onto DVD). What makes it weird is the pedigree behind the pilot for the sci-fi Virtuality: Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor, two of the architects behind the Battlestar Galactica remake (and also writers for the myriad of Star Trek shows starting with Next Generation), and a pilot directed by Peter Berg (at the time still recognized for his work on the Friday Night Lights movie and series, long before that Battleship movie). It was an ambitious series probably to pitch for network TV, and the pilot certainly must’ve not been cheap, so what happened? Let’s take a look at what the pilot has for evidence. Continue reading
Last week, I wanted to come up with some ideas for beating the heat and still enjoying some nerd fun. Now that I am no longer melting from being on the surface of the sun (read- the central valley), my brain can actually process ideas!
So here’s a few of the things I came up with- Continue reading

Smallville season two minicaps only claim to knowing alien languages is a bit of Klingon. That’s it.

I spent this week visiting my family in Central California… I am an idiot. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family- but it’s been blazing hot there! It was 109 almost every day I was home. Soooooo very very hot!
All I could stand to do was watch TV, float in the pool, and run errands early in the day. When I left LA it was supposed to be 90. Which is hot for LA. But when I got home, I appreciated the coolness of that temp! So much more livable!
So while I ponder what things are still fun in the summer heat, first I want to put it out to you- what things do you, my fellow nerds, find to do in the summers? Any places you love to go to beat the heat? Any particular things you do?
I think that I usually hang out at home with DVDs, maybe on the cooler days take a roadtrip with a friend, and I know that I love going to the movies on hot summer days. I’ll be back with a list after I hear back from you.
What about you?
Last year I wrote a brief post about spending the fourth of July- Independence Day here in the United States- watching the “classic” Dean Devlin film, Independence Day. Had some trouble coming up with a topic for this year, but in the end I decided to make a list of some of the best things to watch on this holiday. This is totally biased to my tastes- I’d love to hear what you think!

Smallville season two minicaps has an reasonable alibi for not shooting Lionel Luthor. It was at the Talon. Just ask anyone there.
