So, welcome to the recap of the first episode of Legends of Tomorrow! What do you need to know? Um, well if you’ve been watching Arrow and The Flash regularly, chances are you noticed this season the attention on several characters not necessarily part of the core groups of both shows. Really, I could explain it all, but we still got a lot of story here to cover, so let’s jump into it, okay? Continue reading

Supergirl: do you believe a girl can fly?

21 Nov

This is not a review. There haven’t been enough episodes to truly review this series yet. This is, instead, me working out whether or not Supergirl is worth my time.

Should we give Gotham season 2 a chance?

26 Sep

The second season of FOX’s Gotham premiered this week. The series presents a path towards the creation of DC’s “Batman” by introducing the characters of Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and Dr. Leslie Tompkins; and the future Batman villains Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, and others. The first season proved to be worthy of the fanbase- to some. Personally, I told myself I’d give it to the winter hiatus to catch me and then move on. I mean, I like Batman and Gordon has always been an intriguing character. So… yeah.

The thing is, the episode right before hiatus… it was really good. So I came back after the holidays hoping for more. But it took 10 episodes to get there! Why is that? Continue reading

Television Graveyard- plot 13, Birds of Prey

7 Aug

Towards the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the WB* attempted to keep the Girl Power strong with their network by bringing in some DC characters. After all, the WB was riding high on Smallville‘s success. They still had Charmed, but they seemed to want some ladies who kicked ass, without the cartoony silliness the Halliwell sisters sometimes got into- I don’t mock, still love Charmed!

*yes, I know that Buffy was on UPN for it’s last two years, but we all know the WB still thought of it as their baby.

What they got was thirteen episodes of what could’ve been awesome.

BirdsofPrey

‘Could’ve been’ being the operative phrase. Of course, the fact that I own the DVDs also says that while the show wasn’t great, Birds of Prey was a lot of fun. And it had so much potential. Continue reading

For those of you following my A&V Stimuli blog, you probably know I’ve been recapping Flash over there. But not to unintentionally leave you loyal NerdLush readers out of the loop, I thought it’d be fun to discuss my thoughts on the show so far here. Like my previous SHIELD post, let’s look at the good and bad that has come out of the last nine episodes. First, the good: Continue reading

Is there a point to getting up on Saturday mornings?

6 Dec

When I was a kid, we’d get up early(ish) on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons. Everything from Looney Toons to Spiderman to X-Men to Gummi Bears. They ran from dawn all the way to noon. Sometimes, a network would slip in something that wasn’t a cartoon, like Power Rangers or Superboy, but it was still a silly bit of family fun. Then FOX would run a couple of movies in the afternoon- usually things that today we’d classify as Syfy channel original films; things like Night of the LepusContinue reading

ARROW Season 3×02, “Sara” recap

16 Oct

arrow302

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Are you finished scooping your jaw off the floor after last week’s shocker ending? Which one do I mean, you ask? No, not the one where it seems Ollie won’t be getting a second date with Felicity. I mean the one where Sara gets three arrows to the chest and is dead…again!

Clark managed to avoid getting beamed up to wherever with Zod and the Kandorians, but still has a lot more problems to deal with on Earth. There’s the warnings of a great evil coming, and Jor-El feels Clark isn’t ready to fight it. Then there’s a shady government guy who’s tagging and monitoring superheroes. Then there’s Chloe faking her death and going into hiding. Then there’s Oliver revealing he’s Green Arrow to the public. Then there’s Lois knowing Clark’s secret unbeknownst to him. Then there’s the anti-vigilante push starting to simmer. And even then, there’s the Lex clone that Tess is secretly raising. Man, here’s hoping this round of minicaps gets him a break. ARROW Season 3×01, “The Calm” recap

4 Oct

arrow302

Welcome back, Arrow-heads! How was your summer? Well, good news is if you lamented not being able to catch up on last season, well, Netflix has that up, so go ahead and do that. I’ll wait. Now, if you’re back, there’s not much to say except: Ollie defeated Slade, Thea has run off with Malcolm Merlyn, Quentin had a serious health problem, and Team Arrow is off to fight crime in Starling City while trying to rebuild. Also in the flashbacks, Ollie has finally gotten off the island, only to end up in Hong Kong with Amanda Waller. There’s more I should tell you about, but hey, let’s leap in…
