Television Graveyard- plot 5, Dark Angel

27 Jun

Alright… I’m back to talk “Girl Power”. Or… um… wait, I’m actually here to talk about a sci-fi “gem” from the early 2000’s that I passed on originally. Probably for good reason. But having recently sat to watch the entire thing- well, let’s just say I think it’s one that if you haven’t seen, you should. Probably.

The problem is- I can’t decide if I actually like the show or not. But that’s neither here nor there at the moment… let’s first talk about the show. Welcome to Dark Angel.

Nights At The Round Table

Dee2 here…

You know after the opening shot and the old school game theme music that you’re in for a treat. Think “The Guild” mixed with a little “I.T. Crowd”. I think they’re onto something here. The acting is pretty good and the characters memorable and funny without trying too hard.

Much Ado About… Everything.

9 Jun

Yes, I am going to jump on the nerd bandwagon and tell you to go now and see this tiny little indie gem, from Joss Whedon and friends… Much Ado About Nothing. But let me be serious for a moment- go now. Get up from your computer and go. Well, go now if you live in New York, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Go on June 21st for the rest of the US. And honestly, I forget the date for the UK etc. So look it up and go.

“Much Ado About Nothing” is my favorite Shakespeare play. I fell in love with it in high school, when the Kenneth Branagh film was released. Til tonight that was my definitive interpretation.  Continue reading

If I can just have 5 minutes of your time ~ Shelf Life

1 Jun

So… I was trying to figure out which web series to talk about for this post and then it hit me in the face that while we promote Shelf Life on the twitter and facebook pages, and we’ve done interviews, we have never made a post simply about the show. Well, season 4 just finished “airing” the other day, so this is the perfect time, right? I agree.

Shelf Life!

Television Graveyard- plot 4, Manimal

30 May

I was inspired to dig up this posts old television series when a UK friend asked on twitter if it had been a real show or just a figment of his imagination. It was indeed a real show. And one that I remember fondly. No matter how ridiculous the plot actually was.

For Your Earholes Only — Podcasts Worth Checking Out

26 May

Stewart here…

I don’t know if this is telling of my age, but commercial radio is just uninteresting to me these days.  On the other hand, I discover new music (and relisten to old music) via the Internet.  As a result of my Internet searches, I discovered podcasts about six years ago.  For you not in the know, podcasts are pretty much audio programs on a particular subject, often with hosts who are fans or as become the case recently, with noteworthy Hollywood talent behind them. Stewart here, and be warned of spoilers within…

Last time, we got introduced to the world of Smallville, Kansas, where a teenage Clark Kent discovers that his abnormal powers are probably from the fact he’s not from this planet.  He also has to contend with other things, like making friends with a slightly older but still bald Lex Luthor, juggling his friends Pete and Chloe, deal with his crush on Lana Lang, and just going through high school.  Oh, and occasionally he has to deal with people affected in various ways by the meteor storm that brought him to Earth.  Really, that’s all you need to know going in.  Anyhoo… Continue reading
