Stewart here, and welcome to another post on news coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Let’s skip the pleasantries and get to the meat of it all, shall we? Continue reading
SDCC News Round-Up, Day 1
19 JulStewart here, and welcome to the first of several posts on news coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While I am not in San Diego, Elizabeth Ann is, enjoying the sights and sounds (and likely the sweat smell), like Wednesday night’s showing of new pilots, like Almost Human, from the producers of Fringe, which I hear is something worth checking out in the fall. Since most of the heavy news didn’t happen on day one (the big panels are this Friday and Saturday), this gives me a chance to focus on comic news in this installment. But first:

San Diego Comic-con 2013 Countdown
15 JulDue to a last minute ticket, my brother and I are off to SDCC 2013 this week. I posted before about our previous adventures. Hopefully, we’ll have someone here at the site who can do daily wrap-ups (last year, Stewart did a great job. Think he’s up for it this year?).
I have no specific thing that we are going to see… though my brother is putting together a schedule. There are many friends there, though. We’ll definitely spend time in the big room and try to get into Ballroom 20 for some TV panels. And I have an idea for a few posts I’d like to put together. But… is there anything specific YOU’D like me get info on?
I will say that I’m super excited about no Twilight fans this year…

Television Graveyard – Supplemental Plot, “Virtuality”
11 JulStewart here, and I’m bringing you a show that got canned in its pilot phase, and only by contractual obligation, got aired on television once (and made its way onto DVD). What makes it weird is the pedigree behind the pilot for the sci-fi Virtuality: Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor, two of the architects behind the Battlestar Galactica remake (and also writers for the myriad of Star Trek shows starting with Next Generation), and a pilot directed by Peter Berg (at the time still recognized for his work on the Friday Night Lights movie and series, long before that Battleship movie). It was an ambitious series probably to pitch for network TV, and the pilot certainly must’ve not been cheap, so what happened? Let’s take a look at what the pilot has for evidence. Continue reading

Television Graveyard- plot 5, Dark Angel
27 JunAlright… I’m back to talk “Girl Power”. Or… um… wait, I’m actually here to talk about a sci-fi “gem” from the early 2000’s that I passed on originally. Probably for good reason. But having recently sat to watch the entire thing- well, let’s just say I think it’s one that if you haven’t seen, you should. Probably.
The problem is- I can’t decide if I actually like the show or not. But that’s neither here nor there at the moment… let’s first talk about the show. Welcome to Dark Angel.
