Welcome back, Arrowheads! So things are getting a bit complicated, with everyone doing their own white lies. Thea is using Malcolm Merlyn’s money to buy back the Verdant and a killer apartment for her and Ollie to be roomies in, but is neglecting to mention her secret training with Malcolm. Laurel is training with boxer Ted Grant to deal with her anger issues, but is not telling her dad that Sara is dead. And then there’s Roy, who has been having some sleep trouble, probably related to him dreaming she killed Sara! But did he? And if he did, why? Continue reading

A little John Barrowman is good for the soul.
10 NovAs previously mentioned in the recent Comikaze Expo post, NerdLush caught the John Barrowman panels at the convention. We also caught them on video for those not able to attend the convention… and to be honest, because we just adore the man and wanted to be able to watch the panels again.

Stan Lee’s Comikaze Expo graduates to an event for all
8 NovStan Lee’s Comikaze Expo recently celebrated its fourth year with it’s largest event to date. The convention has grown immensely since it began in 2011- but it’s done so smartly; it doesn’t feel too big for its space or time. Over all, it was a fun filled weekend of nerdy adventuring.
I’ve attended Comikaze every year- however, this was the first year I attended all 3 days (though Friday was just a short visit to get a feel for it and pick up our passes). It was also the first year I’d participated in a panel.
But it’s not all about me- let’s talk about the guests. Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×05, “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak” recap
6 NovWelcome back, Arrowheads! With the title of this episode, maybe we should start this recap by asking: what do we know about Felicity Smoak? She’s a computer prodigy, possibly Jewish, and has a mom who’s a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas. As you can expect, we’re about to learn a bit more about Team Arrow’s genius. Also unrelated to Ms. Smoak, Thea is running the Verdant again, Laurel is taking to training to vent her anger, and why should we be concerned about Roy’s sleep trouble? Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×04, “The Magician” recap
30 OctWelcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we left everyone, Ollie took a trip out of town to bring Thea back home, who was unknown to Ollie, being trained by noted psychopath Malcolm Merlyn. Malcolm let her go, but who knows what that means. Seriously, he’s crazy. This was a brief break from the ongoing mystery of Sara’s murder, which was still having ripples through everyone. Felicity had taken Ray Palmer’s job at Queen Consolidated, and Laurel attempted her own vigilante thing and asking for help in training, which got a major “NO” from Ollie and a “sure” from boxer Ted Grant. And just when Ollie was getting over the jet lag, Nyssa shows up wondering what happened to Sara. Oooooh, this is going to an uncomfortable talk…

ARROW Season 3×03, “Corto Maltese” recap
22 OctWelcome back, Arrowheads! Last time we were here, Team Arrow was searching for Sara’s killer, and despite stopping a deadly archer assassin, got no joy and not Sara’s killer. I suppose we’ll get to that eventually, but there’s other things to mention before we get to this episode. For instance, Laurel keeping Sara’s death a secret from dad (he has a heart condition!), Felicity taking Ray Palmer’s new high paying job, and Ollie finding out Thea’s not so much “on extended vacation”, but “just getting away from everyone”, and deciding to bring her home. I’m sure finding out about Thea will be nothing in comparison to when he finds out his baby sister is being taught to fight by Malcolm Merlyn! Yeah, the mass murderer and not dead Malcolm Merlyn! I smell an awkward reunion on the horizon… Continue reading →

ARROW Season 3×02, “Sara” recap
16 OctWelcome back, Arrowheads! Are you finished scooping your jaw off the floor after last week’s shocker ending? Which one do I mean, you ask? No, not the one where it seems Ollie won’t be getting a second date with Felicity. I mean the one where Sara gets three arrows to the chest and is dead…again!

Once a theatre nerd, always a theatre nerd
27 AugRecently, I went with my family for an evening at the local amateur theatre. We have been attending shows at this company for over *cough* 30 *cough* years, so I’m not going to lie- but my brother and I are a little opinionated about shows now. In particular… the pre-show.
But that’s a post for another time. Continue reading →
