For the first time in years, I have cable and plan to spend the next week immersed in the Discovery Channel’s annual Shark Week.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o70X8bRlsc]But I also love shark movies, and in honor of Shark Week I want to list a few of my favorites!
*Jaws– The first film in this series is amazing in its originality (for the time). The lack of shark focus, increases the intensity. To this day, I still watch it with my feet off the floor…
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1fu_sA7XhE]*Jaws III– This is not a great film, however it is one that I never change the channel on because it amuses me so. It made me a bit awry of SeaWorld after… I’ll be honest.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTga44I43uI]*Sharktopus– If you know me, you know I can’t let this one go. It is so utterly ridiculous! I mean, the end has the sharktopus fighting the heroes inland, over a freshwater stream! What???
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U87zVkIXNI0]*Sharknado I & II– Yes, I am part of the populace that made Sharknado a national event. Proud of that. I even watched the sequel with frequent calls to with my mom to giggle and point out crazy inaccuracies. Cannot wait to add it to my DVD collection. The original was so ridiculous- so amazing! And I can’t even go into the insane geographical fails. Who knew we could ever cheer for Ian Ziering?
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwsqFR5bh6Q]*Shark Attack 3- Megaladon– Yes, I own this. Yes, I watched it before I knew (or loved) John Barrowman. Yes, I have watched it a million times since I discovered the awesome that is JB. I am not ashamed. This film is amazeballs. I mean… the shark EATS a speedboat. Just opens his mouth and eats it! (There’s a magaladon jaw at SeaWorld and I checked last time I was there… couldn’t eat a boat)
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRYAL0fQ51g]So there you have it… a few of my favorite shark movies. What would you add to the list?
What do you think?
