ARROW Season 2×05, “League of Assassins” recap

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  So, in case you missed last episode (and really, reading this recap before doing that is on you), Sara, Laurel’s sister who supposedly died five odd years ago is very much alive, and fighting crime in Starling City!  This would be shocking news for us and for Oliver, except for that little thing he neglected to mention about Sara being on the island and thinking after a fatal encounter, she was for reals dead.  She doesn’t want to reveal herself to her family, but with Laurel turning into a pill popper and that pesky mystery league of killers wanting to bring her back into their club, its good money that plan probably won’t last.  So, let’s get into it… Continue reading →

ARROW Season 2×04, “Crucible” recap

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  So, last time we were in Starling City, Laurel had survived an attack from Hentai-man, I mean, the Dollmaker and Ollie got saved from Laurel by that mystery blonde vigilante.  Plus, the show has a legit guy with the last name of Blood running around.  And in our flashbacks, Slade is on fire…as in his face and hands are burning, while past Ollie gets locked up on what seems to be a gritty reimagining of The Love Boat.  Let’s see if the Isaac on this ship has some wonderful cocktails to serve us while I recap this episode, huh? ARROW Season 2×03, “Broken Dolls” recap

Welcome back!  Last time, Ollie was busy setting up his new version of crimefighting while trying to establish himself running the family company.  And he’s running into problems on both ends of that: on the public end from pro-Glades boosters like Sebastian Blood, and from Laurel, who has it out for our hooded hero.  And in a case of “good idea, wrong timing”, Ollie heads to Laurel’s office to reason with her.  Her response is a heavily armed team of cops leaving him with nowhere to go.  So, um, we’re about to get an awkward reveal to Laurel, aren’t we? Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  See what I did there?  It’s a play on…sigh…you know, I should just recap what happened so far.  Diggle and Felicity track down Ollie on the island he was stranded on years ago, who’s in self-imposed exile since the Glades was left in ruins.  He’s brought back to save his family’s company from being bought out, by its also to get him back into protecting Starling City.  He agrees to, but wants to do it in a new way: one that doesn’t involve killing his enemies. Its hard not to feel bad for the police department of Gotham City.  Like any big city, they have to contend with a good amount of crime on the streets, but unlike most cities, a majority of those crimes aren’t being caused by abnormal or superpowered criminals.  And then there’s that vigilante who patrols the streets dressed as a bat that they have to sometimes rely on for help.  Like I said, it’s hard to be a cop in Gotham.
