Fantastic Four… why it failed to impress

19 Aug
Authors Note: I’ve not yet read the comics but I do have the Ultimate run to read as I travel the US in a couple weeks. I do have some knowledge of the FF but not much when it comes to the villains and supporting characters. Editors NoteWoohoo! Here’s an actual review of the recent Fantastic Four film. Poor Lee was so traumatized by it… I had to coerce him to write this just so we’d all understand why the Roger Corman film is better.

I’ll start off with what I enjoyed because there’s not much. Continue reading

Fantastic Four is a bit less fantastic than promised

11 Aug

Seriously. Continue reading

Ant-Man – A Small Step But A Giant Leap Into The MCU

26 Jul

I’m not going to go on and give a full review because there are lots of those out there and my honest review of this is ‘Go see it, go see it now’. I want to talk more on about the effect this film has on the MCU, which is a lot. Continue reading

You’ve heard about the Captain Marvel movie coming out; heck, we’ve all heard about it, and with fresh news come fresh rumors. Debates about how the film will fit into the Marvel Universe Franchise, who the prospected (and possibly female) directors are, and even what exactly the movie will be about has got the Internet twittering, but my mind is focused on one critical thing: who is going to play the first ever live-action Carol Danvers?

Canadian Space Travel (or my brief review of Syfy’s Friday Night lineup)!

2 Jul

Stewart here…

So I’ve been starved for space ship-bound Sci-Fi shows pretty much since Stargate Universe went off the air, and it looks like we’re about to get a good amount of them on Syfy this year. There’s The Expanse which is coming out later this year (based on the really good book series), and now there’s two imports from Canada, Dark Matter and Killjoys that are now on Friday nights. So here’s a brief review of both so far:

Wizard World Sacramento

24 Jun

The downside of hitting a convention for only one day is that the day is spent rushing around trying to see as much as possible while still enjoying it. The upside? You went to a convention- any time spent at one is a good time.

I got a last minute-ish invite to join a panel at Wizard World Sacramento and as it is only a hop and three skips north of the NerdLush HQ, I accepted. But as it is so close, it made as much sense to opt for a day trip as it did to go for the whole weekend (especially with several other things coming up quick). So Saturday morning, I hopped in Tardis Jr and ventured to nerd fun. Continue reading

Welcome back, Arrowheads, for this look at the good and bad of the third season of Arrow! Considering how much I enjoyed season two, would this season measure up? The short answer is: not really. The long answer we’ll start talking about below, beginning with the good points of season three: Continue reading

Welcome back, Arrowheads, to the end of season three of Arrow! It’s been a long road of twists and turns, but here we are, as the Heir to the Demon, aka Al-Sah-him, aka The Arrow, aka Oliver Queen, is about to cement his place in the League of Assassins. He’s already been married off to a reluctant Nyssa, seemingly gassed his former teammates with a deadly virus, the same virus he fought to stop being unleashed in Hong Kong years ago, and now that he has to unleash on Starling City! Can all the lunacy, betrayals, and tragedy that have happened all season be solved in this season finale? Probably not, but let’s see what happens anyway…

The 2015 TV season is looking good~ Hail Hydra!

9 May

Congratulations to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter on being renewed. Season two of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t even aired its finale yet, but I am already giddy for what season three will bring me.

Mind, if Agent Ward doesn’t get to be redeemed or returned to a more regular position in three, I will be wearing my cranky pants all year. Continue reading

Welcome back, Arrowheads! You’re back in time for the wedding no one expected (and all but Ra’s al Ghul didn’t want): the marriage of Oliver Queen aka Al Sah-him to Nyssa! Besides getting a VERY reluctant bride, afterwards, Ollie gets to have his honeymoon in Starling, where he’ll unleash the Alpha/Omega virus on his hometown! Meanwhile, Thea has found out Roy is alive, and Team Arrow is trying to move on without their fearless leader. You think they’re getting wedding invites? Continue reading
