Some thoughts on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2!

9 May

Stewart here…

(Major SPOILERS coming up, but first, some less spoiler-ish thoughts…)

Marking the second movie in a month where Vin Diesel is in it, as well as Kurt Russell, and with the big subject of “family”, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has finally arrived!  The first movie was a surprise to lot of filmgoers and critics who didn’t know from early previews what to make of this bizarre comic book sci-fi action movie, and with its equally shocking success, it seemed inevitable a sequel would be coming our way.  Written and directed again by James Gunn, was this sequel going to live up to the original?  The short answer is: yes.  The longer answer is: well, keep reading… Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter R

6 May

I’m back. Did you miss me? I had to take a break because I had no Q’s! But our Stewart helped out. And I laughed so hard at the review he shared. Anyways, I had a few R’s to choose from but I was in a mood today and chose Rise of the Guardians.

ARROW Season 5×20, “Underneath” recap

4 May

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  When last we left Team Arrow, they were still on the hunt for creepy ‘ol Prometheus, but they had some distractions of late.  The big one being Felicity’s involvement with HELIX causing some friction between her and Ollie, and by happenstance, Diggle and Lyla over ARGUS’ recent activities.  But it’s the former couple we need to discuss, because as Felicity’s using the special tracer she got from HELIX to find Adrian Chase, her and Ollie are caught an explosion inside the HQ!  Did they survive?  Well, YES obviously, but let’s see how… Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter Q

30 Apr

Stewart here…

As our boss has no films that start with the letter “Q”, she asked me to find a “Q” movie worth talking about.  We could’ve gone with Quest For Fire, or even Quantum of Solace.  Instead, I’ll be talking about something more up this blog’s alley: a giant monster movie!  And its the 1982 monster movie: Q, The Winged Serpent!

ARROW Season 5×19, “Dangerous Liaisons” recap

27 Apr

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  Now that Adrian Chase has been revealed to be Prometheus, things should be better for Team Arrow, yeah?  Well, there’s still the tiny problem that Adrian has fleed his witness protection detail, and no one knows where he is.  Then there’s Felicity becoming more chummy with the hacker collective HELIX, and that can only explode in her and her friends’ face.  On the plus side, no flashbacks this week, so we can get straight to this… Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter P

22 Apr

I’m a little late on this weeks DVD post but in my defense I have been catching up on a few NetFlix marathons I’m behind on. Surprisingly, I have a lot of options for the letter P in my collection that I have never seen. But I opted to see the most recent one because I needed to know if what I’d heard was true/as bad as I’d been told.

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter O

The one DVD in my collection with an O title did not entice me this week, so I went to Amazon Prime to watch the first episode of Oz.

Tonight’s Gonna Be A Jailbreak: a PRISON BREAK catch-up

6 Apr

Stewart here…

So with the return of PRISON BREAK for a nine episode run this month, it seemed like a good time to explore where this show has been and where it may go from its four season run.  I got interested in the show around its first season, being a fan of shows like 24, which were ambitious for network TV.  And this had a interesting premise: a show centered around a prison escape, that would cap off its season with said escape.  The big question, like say the setup of 24, was simply: how the hell could you pull this off? Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter N

4 Apr

As much as I am a closet sap and enjoy a weepfest, the last two films covered that for a bit, I think. So in choosing this weeks title from my backlog of films I felt it was important to take this into account… obviously, this means zombies. Right? It’s obvious. This week I dug up a recent entry into my B movie collection- Navy Seals vs Zombies!

ARROW Season 5×18, “Disbanded” recap

30 Mar

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  Previously, Ollie found himself prisoner of Adrian Chase/Prometheus, and got a lesson as to what kind of man he is, specifically a guy who probably enjoys murdering bad guys.  This educational experience really messed with Ollie’s head, so much so that when he was let go by Adrian, he immediately went back to Arrow HQ to tell the Team he’s shutting down the operation.  Sure, Ollie has had his little periods of wanting to pack this Green Arrow thing up, but this ordeal seems to have snapped ol’ Oliver Queen.  What does this mean for taking down Adrian? Continue reading
