Television Graveyard – Supplemental Plot, “Virtuality”

11 Jul

virtuality

Stewart here, and I’m bringing you a show that got canned in its pilot phase, and only by contractual obligation, got aired on television once (and made its way onto DVD).  What makes it weird is the pedigree behind the pilot for the sci-fi Virtuality:  Ronald D. Moore and Michael Taylor, two of the architects behind the Battlestar Galactica remake (and also writers for the myriad of Star Trek shows starting with Next Generation), and a pilot directed by Peter Berg (at the time still recognized for his work on the Friday Night Lights movie and series, long before that Battleship movie).  It was an ambitious series probably to pitch for network TV, and the pilot certainly must’ve not been cheap, so what happened?  Let’s take a look at what the pilot has for evidence. Smallville season two minicaps has an reasonable alibi for not shooting Lionel Luthor. It was at the Talon. Just ask anyone there.

Television Graveyard- plot 5, Dark Angel

27 Jun

Alright… I’m back to talk “Girl Power”. Or… um… wait, I’m actually here to talk about a sci-fi “gem” from the early 2000’s that I passed on originally. Probably for good reason. But having recently sat to watch the entire thing- well, let’s just say I think it’s one that if you haven’t seen, you should. Probably.

The problem is- I can’t decide if I actually like the show or not. But that’s neither here nor there at the moment… let’s first talk about the show. Welcome to Dark Angel.

Nights At The Round Table

Dee2 here…

You know after the opening shot and the old school game theme music that you’re in for a treat. Think “The Guild” mixed with a little “I.T. Crowd”. I think they’re onto something here. The acting is pretty good and the characters memorable and funny without trying too hard.

Much Ado About… Everything.

9 Jun

Yes, I am going to jump on the nerd bandwagon and tell you to go now and see this tiny little indie gem, from Joss Whedon and friends… Much Ado About Nothing. But let me be serious for a moment- go now. Get up from your computer and go. Well, go now if you live in New York, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. Go on June 21st for the rest of the US. And honestly, I forget the date for the UK etc. So look it up and go.

“Much Ado About Nothing” is my favorite Shakespeare play. I fell in love with it in high school, when the Kenneth Branagh film was released. Til tonight that was my definitive interpretation.  Continue reading

If I can just have 5 minutes of your time ~ Shelf Life

1 Jun

So… I was trying to figure out which web series to talk about for this post and then it hit me in the face that while we promote Shelf Life on the twitter and facebook pages, and we’ve done interviews, we have never made a post simply about the show. Well, season 4 just finished “airing” the other day, so this is the perfect time, right? I agree.

Shelf Life!
