ARROW Season 3×09, “The Climb” recap

10 Dec

Welcome back, Arrowheads, to the last Arrow episode of 2014! For the majority of this season, Team Arrow has been trying to find the killer of their friend, Sara Lance, and despite all the likely suspects (like the not dead Malcolm Merlyn), have come up with a cold case. There is one lead regarding some unknown DNA samples that Felicity has dropped off to STAR Labs, but hopefully an answer will come from that, and soon. They still have to deal with Ra’s al Ghul and the League of Assassins breathing down their doorstep for answers too, and they are a little less subtle in their methods of investigation. Let’s see how that becomes a problem for everyone this episode, shall we? Continue reading

ARROW Season 3×07, “Draw Back Your Bow” recap

20 Nov

arrow325Welcome back, Arrowheads! Well, the good news from last time is Roy didn’t kill Sara, but does remember killing a cop under a Mirakuru OD, so little joy there for Ollie’s sidekick. Also, Ollie stopped a former sidekick of Ted Grant who went on a gangland killing spree, who was being transferred to prison when…hey, who’s that redhead with the bow and arrow killing him? And why has she been popping up in crime scenes where the Arrow has been?

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  Well, here’s what we need to remember before we get to this last episode of the season: Starling City’s under siege by Slade’s supermen, Sebastian Blood’s dead, Ollie has the Mirakuru cure, and none of this may matter if Amanda Waller’s drone strike on the city happens in a few hours! Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  So the proverbial crap has hit the proverbial fan.  Ollie’s in a bit of a funk after Moira’s death, but gets put right by Team Arrow and…Laurel?  Yeah, she gives him enough motivation to get back to the hood wearing to take down Sebastian Blood and that Mirakuru-army of his.  And then Team Arrow gets sidetracked in a few ways: Ollie and Laurel being trapped in the tunnels below Starling City; Felicity getting a call from STAR Labs about that Mirakuru cure; and Diggle facing off against a really ticked off Isabel.  And things get worse with Blood’s army laying siege to places like Quentin’s precinct house and the train station where Thea is, while the army makes its way into town.  Ruh-Roh! Join us for a drink… OTP – Olicity, Arrow, and More!

5 May

OTP – or One True Pairing – is a fandom term used to denote pairings fans believe are the best couples. This occurs throughout fandom mediums – television shows, books, movies…even “real life people”. In most fandoms, there are fanfics that are written by the fans in order to tell a story, the way they see fit. To be honest, some of the fics are quite well-written with compelling stories. Others… not so much (off-topic, but recently there was an announcement of a “One Direction” fanfic that was being published… excerpts of the book were released as well… it was painful drivel). But these fics also allow for fans to have their OTP as they see fit… something that may go against what the writers of a show or the author of a book series may want (for now anyway).    Continue reading

A very popular panel at WonderCon 2014 centered on the subject of Psychology of Cult TV shows.  A full room including a standing back row watched as a panel of psychology experts discussed the rich subject matter that made up this topic in both its fictional context and its potential real-world impact.  The panel included Dr. Janina Scarlet (The Superhero Manual), Josué Cardona (Geek Therapy), Dr. Travis Langley (Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight), and NerdLush Diva herself Elizabeth Ann.
