The Stargate SG-1 Minicaps welcomes you to the Stargate SG-1 Minicaps! Kinda redundant sounding, huh? Sorry about that.

So, if you’ve read the recap of the movie this show shares a name with, you know the following: we discovered a gate to another part of the galaxy, we ran into a culture of humans evolved differently than us, fought evil aliens, and killed said evil aliens. The expedition team, made up of Colonel Jack O’Neill and Dr. Daniel Jackson, had a wild time, but made friends (and in Daniel’s case, a wife) before leaving, sans Jackson. O’Neill suggested he’d come back to visit this world of Abydos, so let’s see how that return visit pans out… Continue reading

In order to discuss the many seasons of Stargate SG-1 as we will starting next month, it seemed appropriate to discuss the movie that gave birth to it, the 1994 hit movie, Stargate!

And The Next Round of TV Minicaps Goes To…

26 Nov

Stewart here…

Well, I just recently finished doing minicaps for Smallville, which I’ll admit took longer than I planned to do and ultimately finish. It was laid out as a year long job, and thanks to tons of mitigating factors out of my control, took almost a year and a half. But here I am, at the end of it, and now the question I have is: what show will I review next? Continue reading

Happy Fourth of July!

4 Jul

If you’ve been playing along via the facebook or twitter feeds, you know HQ moved this week. So… I am still a little behind in what’s happening outside of HQ…

But I’ve now done the annual viewing of Independence Day. Three viewings so far today! Which, of course, has set my brain off thinking about Dean Devlin is going to do in the sequel…

Happy fireworks (be safe!), food, friends/family, and freedom!

Light & Dark… Black & White… Good & Bad… who would you rather be?

20 Jun

Last year I wanted to learn more about creating “crazy” characters and utilized social media to reach out to actors, writers, and creators in order to learn the different perspectives. As a mental health professional, I have found that I lose a bit when I watch something as I tend to sit and observe the characters- looking to diagnose, to see their flaws, to learn who they are, etc. Usually I can turn it off and focus on the story but sometimes it is harder than others. Especially after a long day with clients.

Let Freedom Entertain!

3 Jul

Last year I wrote a brief post about spending the fourth of July- Independence Day here in the United States- watching the “classic” Dean Devlin film, Independence Day. Had some trouble coming up with a topic for this year, but in the end I decided to make a list of some of the best things to watch on this holiday. This is totally biased to my tastes- I’d love to hear what you think!

When my worlds collide- the creation of crazy in a character

17 Feb

For years, I’ve been curious — what does a script actually say when it calls for a character to be crazy? I know it seems like a weird thing to wonder, but not if you really know me. I have degrees in Psychology and the focus of my research, work, education, and life is a severely dysfunctional population.

The Awesome Power of Nerds

13 Aug

As a geek/nerd (who really cares which I claim or am?), I enjoy following other like minded people on their sites, blogs, facebook and twitter pages, and getting links or just hearing what they are up to. The power of the internet has done so much to bring people together. In the last couple of weeks, there have been a couple pieces that I want to chat about- Continue reading

Let me tell you why I love Leverage

26 Jul

So the fifth season of TNT’s Leverage is off to a fine start and now that the hullabaloo of SDCC has died down, I can move on to discussing new topics- which translates to: I want to talk to y’all about my love for Leverage. If you don’t know the show, I hope this post will entice you check it out. If you do… I hope you will post your thoughts. Love to chat with some other fans.

Happy ID4!

4 Jul

Shortly after I graduated high school, a tradition began… spending part of the Fourth of July killing aliens that are trying to destroy us and take over our planet. With a little help from Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum’s glorious swagger… we managed to fend them off every year. Happy Fourth of July everyone!
