NerdLush HQ back up and running!

28 Aug

Welcome back friends! Well, actually, you guys didn’t go anywhere. And most of us didn’t go anywhere. But HQ did.

For the last 3 years, NerdLush HQ has been in a small country town in central California after starting out in Los Angeles. Well, spontaneously… HQ moved to a larger city in central California (our Stewart and my hometown, actually). And when I say spontaneously I mean the idea of possibly doing it existed but the reality happened really fast, and with no one knowing. Special thanks to our pal Bethany for helping us out with that SDCC post in the midst of move time.

So now that HQ is mostly unpacked (and by mostly I mean that the DVDs are out of their boxes but 50% of the rest of the stuff is still boxed up) it’s time to get back to work.

Stewart is back to posting. ✔

I’ve got the last two movies for my alphabet series out and waiting to be watched. ✔

And now it’s time to open our doors and see who out there wants to come join us as posters! We are looking for anyone who wants to share posts about nerdy, geeky fun. Anything from TV, movies, books, music, events, or even special posts (like this one). All that we ask is a commitment to make at least one post a month. If you think this is something you can do and you want to play with us, we would love to chat! Drop a line to nerdlush@gmail.com with the subject line “pick me pick me pick me!!” so that we know you coming to us from this post and not one of the strange, random paid bloggers who seek us out. Hope to hear from some of you!

Also, wondering what new series of TV y’all are looking forward to this fall? Personally, I cannot wait for The Orville, but then I have a weird love for Seth MacFarlane. I’m trying to decide if I want to review it regularly or not. Thoughts?

Stewart here…

Another summer of big budget popcorn entertainment is about to come and go, and despite the middling box office, it was a summer full of some quality movies. So in order to talk about this in further detail, let’s break down the best of this summer’s movies into categories:

Guest Post!!~ San Diego Comic Con: Nerds of a Feather Flock Together!

2 Aug

Hello fellow nerds! My name is Bethany and NerdLush recruited me to write a blog about my San Diego Comic Con experience this year. First, a little bit about myself- I am a book nerd, TV junkie, and general superhero fan. I have been attending Comic Con the last 7 years, and it’s always been an adventure. This year was no different.

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter X

11 Jul

Stewart here…

My NerdLush boss and I had a bizarre quandary to solve: an X-titled film none of us have seen.  There is the X-Men movies, the X-Files movies, heck, even the xXx movies that we have seen.  On the latter end, I was almost ready to bite the bullet and see the new xXx film for here (I ultimately did for a future post in my own blog, but that’s a story for another time), until I realized there is one X-titled movie I know neither of us have seen, but as I asked politely to fill in, I’ll talk about it.  And no, it is not Xanadu (I got hard lines in the sand I refuse to cross, and that’s one).  That movie is the recent horror anthology XX!

Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads!  Ollie is busy on his big mission to deal with the big criminals in Starling City, little aware that his list of baddies is connected to a big conspiracy that involves his mother.  Oh, and that her new hubby Walter has pieced together something about that, he’s taking off indefinitely.  So let’s just jump into things… Continue reading

Dusting Off the Shelf: Letter V

26 Jun

My planned V film was a miss because it turned out I had already seen it. But completely forgotten. So… I’ve been hunting for a replacement. Netflix hooked me up with Vampire Academy, but it took a few attempts to watch the whole thing… So I’m finally back, and ready to tell you all about it!

ARROW Season 1 rewatch, Ep. 4, “An Innocent Man” / Ep. 5, “Damaged”

Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads!  When we last left Oliver Queen, he was stopping another bad guy in assassin Deadshot, and in the middle of this, Diggle got injured.  So Ollie took him back to heal him at his lair, and was there waiting for him as he woke up to see his client is not quite the damaged rich boy he thought he was.  So now what is he going to do? Continue reading

Welcome back to the rewatch, Arrowheads!  We started off with introducing Oliver Queen back to the world after being missing & presumed dead for five years.  But he came back with a mission: to bring justice on the criminals who have corrupted his hometown of Starling City.  And now, he’s got a lot of work to do, and we got some recapping to do too… Continue reading

A Not-A-Review Review of Wonder Woman

6 Jun

This is not a review. I have to start out with that because I am not a film critic, at least no more than the next Average Joe, nor am I qualified to review a film by talking about the elements that were done to create it. What this is is a collection of the thoughts I had while watching Wonder Woman and afterwards. The simplest way to describe my reaction is this- I loved it. Stop now if you haven’t seen the film as I cannot be held responsible for any spoilers found herein.
