Geek Into Shape – The D word.

The main thing I’ve heard over and over again throughout the years of my own personal battle has been the simple equation of:

Energy In = Energy Out (+ Body Stores)

So if you eat more food than you need, you’re gonna gain weight. Eat less, lose weight. Do more activity, lose weight, etc. What that simple phrase doesn’t tell you however is that energy expenditure means increase of appetite (well, it does for me—again EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT!) and emotional food triggers (for me: stress!) equals a damn hard time of keeping that simple equation throughout the day. Plus add an over abundance of pre-packed food designed to be extra delicious with added fat and sugar, convenient delivery or drive through food sources for the busy lifestyle, and the siren call of television, computer games, and the internet- it’s no wonder that a majority of us are fighting the bulge. ARROW Season 2×04, “Crucible” recap

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  So, last time we were in Starling City, Laurel had survived an attack from Hentai-man, I mean, the Dollmaker and Ollie got saved from Laurel by that mystery blonde vigilante.  Plus, the show has a legit guy with the last name of Blood running around.  And in our flashbacks, Slade is on fire…as in his face and hands are burning, while past Ollie gets locked up on what seems to be a gritty reimagining of The Love Boat.  Let’s see if the Isaac on this ship has some wonderful cocktails to serve us while I recap this episode, huh? HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It is that day of days… the one where scares and candy are all around us… it is a beautiful day. I’m spending it at work. Which… is less fun how I would hope to spend the day. And how about you, my lovelies? Who is getting (or is) dressed up? Who is going to a party or trick or treating? Anyone hitting a haunted house?

Sadly, this holiday season has gotten away from me… I’ve done no haunted houses. And only just started watching horror films the other night. Sigh.

ARROW Season 2×03, “Broken Dolls” recap

Welcome back!  Last time, Ollie was busy setting up his new version of crimefighting while trying to establish himself running the family company.  And he’s running into problems on both ends of that: on the public end from pro-Glades boosters like Sebastian Blood, and from Laurel, who has it out for our hooded hero.  And in a case of “good idea, wrong timing”, Ollie heads to Laurel’s office to reason with her.  Her response is a heavily armed team of cops leaving him with nowhere to go.  So, um, we’re about to get an awkward reveal to Laurel, aren’t we? Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  See what I did there?  It’s a play on…sigh…you know, I should just recap what happened so far.  Diggle and Felicity track down Ollie on the island he was stranded on years ago, who’s in self-imposed exile since the Glades was left in ruins.  He’s brought back to save his family’s company from being bought out, by its also to get him back into protecting Starling City.  He agrees to, but wants to do it in a new way: one that doesn’t involve killing his enemies. The other day was our NerdLush Halloween Extravanganza. The evening ended at midnight as I turned into a pumpkin who had to be up at 6am for classes (on a Sunday). Of course, my plan for getting a few hours of sleep was derailed by the Epic Dance Party © that happened in the street from 1 to 2am (that’d be when the cops I called came to break it up and turn off the horrific club beat “music” they’d been blasting into the night).
