ARROW Season 5×04, “Penance” recap

27 Oct

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  Last we left John Diggle, his return to the military hit a sizable end when he was framed for a crime he did not commit.  And add to that, he’s still feeling guilt over killing his corrupt baby brother, so he’s not gonna really put up much of a fight to prove his innocence.  But Lyla would not like their daughter /son to grow up without a father, so she goes to Ollie to get help breaking Dig out.  Will he help her?  Obviously the answer is “probably”, but what about his new team and all that trouble with Tobias Church?  And hey, what’s up with the Patrick Batman-esque D.A.?  Some of those answers are coming up… Continue reading

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 2×01, “Out of Time” recap

24 Oct

Welcome back!  Last season, our dysfunctional team of time-traveling heroes had managed to defeat the immortal Vandal Savage, and by proxy of blowing up things, became de facto guardians of the timestream.  That mission gets delayed by the arrival of a man called Rex Tyler, a member of the Justice Society of America, who warns them they are in danger if they continue on.  What danger, you ask?  Well, we waited awhile, so let’s find out! Continue reading

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Last we left Ollie, he got himself a brand new team to help fight crime, and that’s, well, gonna take some work to get working like Original Team Arrow. Speaking of the Original Flavor Team, Thea has hired the not-quite sober Quentin to be the deputy mayor and Diggle finds himself in military prison framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Before you can say “how can things get worse?”, did we mention one of Ollie’s recruits lost their family thanks to a nuclear bomb Felicity sent their way? So, let’s settle in to see what happens… Continue reading

Television Graveyard, plot 16~ Lois & Clark

17 Oct

The early 90s attempted to reignite the love for genre TV. Two shows were already presented in this column- SeaQuest DSV & The Flash– but the primary networks had several other shows on air that they used to try to bring in the genre crowd. NBC ran a pair of dramas on Saturday night- The Pretender and Profiler– that they used to dominate the thrill/suspense group. CBS was king of the mysteries. And ABC had a tight grip on the “family” audience with their Friday night line-up of sitcoms. So they tried their darnedest to transfer that audience to a genre with the family friendly Superman series, Lois & Clark.

ARROW Season 5×02, “The Recruits” recap

Welcome back, Arrowheads! Now that Ollie is busy being the Mayor of Star City, he kind of needs a new Team to help take the load of fighting crime. And that’s good, because crime boss Tobias Church and some mystery bad guy are looking to cause serious trouble. With Thea happy to remain sans costume and Diggle serving overseas, Ollie doesn’t have many options. Also, we all remember that city that was accidentally nuked last season? Just keep that in mind.

Marvel’s AGENTS OF SHIELD Launches Season 4 With A Vengeance!

SPOILERS ahead for the first two episodes of the new season…

After all that happened last season, like HYDRA getting wiped out and everyone’s favorite likable psychopath Grant Ward finally meeting his end, it was hard to see where the next season would go. We knew from that brief time jump glimpse in the season 3 finale, Daisy was a fugitive and Coulson was no longer SHIELD’s head honcho. But what did that really mean for the rest of our team? That part was left vague, but with this week’s season premiere, we finally get a clue to what’s going on with SHIELD now, if at best, its a bit clearer. But let’s run through the bullet points of the season premiere: Continue reading

Sunday Night Viewing w/ Ash and Western Robots!

Mild SPOILERS within…

Do you feel Fall TV slowly coming in? Besides all the shows I’ll be covering for here starting with Arrow this week (and yes, Legends of Tomorrow next week), there’s plenty of returning and new shows I won’t have time to cover. So to do a little lip service on that front, I’ll be briefly talking about two shows that premiered on Sunday that you might want to put on your radar. Continue reading

ARROW Season 5×01, “Legacy” recap

20161005-064023.jpg

Welcome back from summer break, Arrowheads! When we last left Team Arrow, it wasn’t really Team Arrow anymore. With Laurel dead and Damien Darhk killed, Diggle rejoined the military, Thea went off for some downtime, and Ollie…became mayor of Star City? Well considering the last mayor was a villainess who almost caused global Armageddon, the Star City council didn’t have many options. But what does this mean for the Green Arrow? What about the rest of the Team? Are we still going to have more flashbacks? How about we get this started by answering that last question first… Continue reading

Why After 50 Years, STAR TREK Is Still Important

8 Sep

Stewart here…

For many nerds like me, and I assume you for reading this, this week is a particularly important one for us. This week (or specifically September 8th) marks the first airing of the original Star Trek TV series, all the way back in September 8th, 1966. That episode, “The Man Trap”, wasn’t even the first produced episode for the show, but the network scheduled it as the series premiere. Watching it even now as I assumed back then for many viewers at the time, you would find it hard to believe this would create a multitude of series, movies, novels, and comic books that would last through half a century. Yet it has, and through all of the high and lows, somehow persevered through now generations of fans. Continue reading

Supergirl season 1… I believe a girl can fly!

27 Aug

Not gonna lie- I started watching Supergirl when it premiered and after a few weeks it went to the DVR back burner… not because it wasn’t fun but it conflicted with another show and I’m lazy. But with the recent release of season 1 on DVD I’ve been binging.

And it has been a most pleasant binge. Continue reading
