Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter J

7 Mar

Going with something different for this installment… in my collection of DVDs, I have several of the really bad superhero movies/TV shows. So today I pulled out the 1997 TV movie, aka pilot episode, of Justice League of America.

ARROW Season 5×15, “Fighting Fire With Fire” recap

2 Mar

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  So we’ve had this whole Prometheus stuff hanging over this season, and now, it looks like Prometheus just launched another wave of pain against Oliver Queen.  Besides leaking that hidden autopsy report on Billy to the police, our baddie also leaked it to the press, which could lead to the end of Ollie’s term as mayor of Star City!  Also, Thea’s starting to remind Ollie of Mama Queen (and not in the best way, since Thea pretty much destroyed Susan’s career) and Felicity is really liking all that info she got from the mysterious Helix.  And with that crazy Vigilante guy running around, things can only get worse.  Continue reading

ARROW Season 5×14, “The Sin-Eater” recap

23 Feb

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  There’s not much to recap from last week’s “let’s talk about gun control” special episode, besides Thea’s back in town.  But we still got the Prometheus problem to worry about, and our Team thinks they found his in-hiding mom.  Then you got that whole thing with Ollie and Adrian hiding the details of Billy’s murder from the Anti Crime Unit, because its hard to explain why the Green Arrow accidentally killed a cop (but read ahead for that to actually happen).  And even with that, there’s trouble brewing with Ollie’s new reporter girlfriend, Susan, finally piecing together he’s the Green Arrow.  But before we get to all of that… Continue reading

ARROW Season 5×13, “Spectre of the Gun” recap

16 Feb

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  And welcome to what we call “a Very Special Episode of Arrow” this week.  So if you were expecting more on Prometheus, well we get a little bit there, and if you were expecting more flashbacks with Talia al Ghul, you are out of luck.  So lets just get into this issue-centric episode… Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter G

Went somewhere completely different this week- Green Room. I really can’t describe this one… in some ways it went how I thought it would but in most- holy crap! I picked this one solely for the cast and basically had no idea what I was getting into…

ARROW Season 5×12, “Bratva” recap

9 Feb

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  When we last left our dear old John Diggle, he had just managed to get out of jail after being framed for treason by a corrupt Army general.  A lot of that has to do with evidence given to Felicity by a super secret hacker cabal known as Helix, which also had a lot of other dirty dark secrets.  Add to that the discovery of a new Black Canary fill-in with ex-cop Dinah Drake, and it looks like its time for Team Arrow to get back to normal, right?  Well, let’s get to that in a second… Continue reading

Dusting Off The Shelf: Letter F

7 Feb

Trying something new this week with a return to a genre style and a young adult novel turned film, The 5th Wave. I guess I could use this as a random film, but 5th starts with F and there ya go. Besides my other choice was too similar to a couple of the previous films… so I thought I’d switch it up a little.

ARROW Season 5×11, “Second Chances” recap

2 Feb

Welcome back, Arrowheads!  The Team had a surprise last time when the dead Laurel Lance came to see them, only to be revealed as the evil Laurel from Earth-2, sprung on them by Prometheus.  This encounter makes Ollie determined to make good on his promise to find someone to take the Black Canary mantle.  In other developments, Diggle is still stuck in prison, and thanks to some quick thinking on DA Adrian’s part, isn’t shipped off to some clearly uncertain end.  But what we should get to is the flashbacks, because Ollie is saved by Talia al Ghul!  Continue reading
