NerdLush Asks ~ Artist Steve Scott interviewed at Long Beach Comic-con

14 Mar

Admittedly, it’s been a while since this video was filmed at Long Beach Comic-con last fall, but it’s never too late to share it and learn a little from an amazing comic artist and NerdLush friend. Steve Scott is probably best known as a Batman artist, prior to the “new 52”, however he has quite the library of works that he has been a part of. I met Steve a few years ago at Wizard World New Orleans, and for some reason our insanities clicked and we’ve been friends. Always a pleasure to see his work. Continue reading

Why I adore Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

8 Mar

It’s no secret that I am a fan of all things Whedon and Marvel, nor is it a secret that when I saw the pilot ep for S.H.I.E.L.D. at San Diego Comic Con 2013 I may have squee’d like a crazy puppy (ask my brother). But like others, I drifted over the next few episodes after the premiere last fall. I mean… I was still in for the season, but I didn’t feel the energy that I felt with the pilot.

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  What you need to know: on the island, the trio of Ollie, Sara, and Slade have figured out a way onto the freighter.  In the present, Ollie comes home to see his mom meeting an old friend…Slade!  Something tells me there’s not going to be much talk between those two about how things have been over the last few years. Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  What you need to know: Sara Lance is back, and now free from her connection to the League of Assassins.  Not that Laurel’s happy, because she’s still a wreck and blames Sara for ruining their family’s lives since she went missing.  In other family troubles, Felicity finds out about Thea’s secret parentage and tells Ollie this at probably the worse time.  He promises to keep that secret to Moira, but wants nothing to do with her outside of her mayoral campaign.  And Slade’s planning to deal with Moira Queen in what way, exactly?  Well, let’s just see what happens… Continue reading

Guest Post!! ~ Robo Reboot Gets Modern Makeover

24 Feb

Today we have a new guest poster, twitter pal Marc! Marc watches a lot of movies and reviews them on TwoOhSix.com all while defying the conventions of what a “movie critic” is typically supposed to be.

MGM and Columbia Pictures have decided to resurrect a cult classic science fiction character in hopes of creating a new blockbuster franchise and, thanks to director José Padilha, Robocop looks primed and ready to blow through the competition. The movie stars Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jay Baruchel while Joel Kinnaman takes on the title role.

The Smallville season 7 minicaps was found in Reeves Dam next to Kara's spaceship.

The Smallville season 7 minicaps was found in Reeves Dam next to Kara’s spaceship.

Stewart here…

At the end of a rocky last season, things were looking up for Clark.  Lana knew his secret and was all cool with it, Chloe was coming to terms with her meteor powers and her relationship with Jimmy, and the Phantom Zone escapees were all but found.  But we ended this season on everything going straight into the toilet.  Lana gets in a car explosion, Lex is arrested for her murder, Chloe saves a fatally injured Lois at the cost of her ending up near dead, and the last Phantom takes the form of Clark.  Did I mention almost all of this happens at the local dam, which is coming apart?  Let’s see how everyone gets out of this mess… Continue reading

I still love 80’s movies!

16 Feb

The other day I was linked to an article that claimed 80’s movies were better than today. I agreed with every point they made and it inspired me to think about my favorite 80s movies. I thought about making a top ten list, but I really couldn’t rank the titles that I loved- my love for them changes daily. So I thought I would take a post, or two, and list out some of my favorite films from my childhood. I would love to hear some of your favorites and/or your thoughts on these films in the comments! The Smallville season 6 minicaps is just content to shuffle off the stage.

The Smallville season 6 minicaps is just content to shuffle off the stage.

Stewart here…

With Clark dealing with the last of the escapees from the Phantom Zone (or so he thinks), things are starting to look up for him.  Meanwhile, Lana is getting in way too deep in dealing with the Luthors.  She finds out her pregnancy was faked, and then gets shot while retrieving important information of Lex’s new super-soldier project.  Since we’re near the end of the season, how will all this pan out for Clark and gang?  Let’s find out… Continue reading

Hear ye! Hear ye! Hey you- you like Batman, right?

8 Feb

Well, I know you do. And that means that I’m going to use today’s post to bring something to your attention.

Well, actually, not me- my friend Travis Langley is. You may know Dr. Langley from twitter as Superherologist, or from his book “Batman and Psychology: A Dark and Stormy Knight”. I know him from both, but also as a forensic psychologist (which is my field, as well) and someone I deeply respect.

Recently, Dr. Langley has been pushing for recognition for the silent creator of the Batman. What? You didn’t know Bob Kane had help? Well, you aren’t alone!

To help get the word out about Bill Finger and his role- especially as this year would be Finger’s 100th birthday- Dr. Langley and a few others in the know are working on a kickstarter to create a documentary.

I could say more, but honestly the kickstarter page says it so much better than I could. Please go, check out the campaign, consider contributing, and at the very least share the page with others! Help get the word out!

Holy cow, Batman!

ARROW Season 2×13, “Heir to the Demon” recap

6 Feb

arrow-00002Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  What you need to know: Moira Queen is being set up to run against Sebastian Blood for mayor of Starling City, but needs to make sure certain things stay quiet, like Thea being her and Malcolm Merlyn’s love baby.  Sara Lance has reappeared, being on the run from the League of Assassins, to supposedly help a really out of it Laurel, who’s been on hard times since getting fired from the DA’s office and maybe losing her law license.  Sara finds Laurel rather disoriented, but seeing that someone slipped a liquid into Laurel’s drinks earlier, I’m sure something else is going on here.  We got a lot of ground to cover, so let’s go… Continue reading
