Excuse me, waiter, there’s a dinosaur in my soup.

20 Jan

So, I was struck down recently with something nasty- not the Flu, but just as lacking in fun- and it left me unable to do much more than lounge around watching TV. Which of course means that I’ve been catching up on stuff I’ve missed over the years etc. Everyone remembers my recent dive into Eureka, right? Well, as is my usual thing, I’ve been hunting other projects the cast has done. If I like someone’s performance in one thing, I like to know what else they’ve done. I got into Warehouse 13, watched some fun (and not so fun) movies, etc- most of this stuff I’ll write about later- and then allowed myself to watch a new series, that hadn’t even finished airing it’s first season! FRINGE-SEASON-5-POSTER-570

Welcome to another recap of FRINGE!  Time for some info dumping…

We’re back after the holidays for the final episodes of Fringe, and things are shaping up nicely.  Team Fringe has found the Observer boy/”anomaly” Michael and kept him safe, but did so at the cost of Nina Sharp’s life.  Despite this sad turn of events, Walter gets a piece of information from Michael’s mindscan that proves interesting: Walter’s mysterious helper in setting up the “defeating the Observers” plan, Donald, is no other than the human-sympathizing Observer, September!  So, with that, let’s get into the home stretch… Continue reading

The Demise Of Saturday Morning

sat morningDee2 here…

An Apology for Not Discovering SHERLOCK Until Right Now

19 Dec

I like to believe I’m good at catching on to shows that are really good earlier than most people in general do.  I was a staunch supporter of shows like Battlestar Galactica, Sons of Anarchy, and Breaking Bad, for example, long before they entered the pop culture conversation.  But even saying that, I have to confess because of time and other constraints, I’m often late to the party in many shows.  I didn’t get into Supernatural until someone after its fifth season, Mad Men only sporadically interested me, and let’s not talk about my lack of interest in watching Smallville (even though I love Superman). Eureka! There be gold in that there TV show!

17 Dec

For years I’ve lived in a bit of a bubble- some of it by choice, most of it due to necessity. I don’t get out to movies often (those things are frickin’ expensive!). I don’t listen to the radio because everything sounds the same (my recent addiction to the broadway channel on my xm is different)(see my post on my eclectic mp3 collection). And I don’t get into too many new shows. I don’t have TV, cable or otherwise, and haven’t gotten decent reception for years… I live on DVDs and what can be found on the internet. So it kills me when people go crazy for a new show. Especially when that show doesn’t magically appear on Hulu etc to give me a chance to watch it too. Continue reading
