Joined a panel of mental health professionals, along with a novelist and journalist, to discuss the “struggle to survive and hang onto their humanity in the worst situations”, through the lens of The Walking Dead.
WonderCon 2015: the continuing adventures of this nerdy bunny
7 Apr
Trekked south this past weekend for the annual WonderCon event in Anaheim. The con continues to be a wonderful midsize event that draws a great crowd of awesome nerds. It’s certainly a smaller event than the summer shindig that is SDCC but that works in several ways- easier to breath without quite so many people, it’s easier to get in to events and panels, and without the major studios cramming the exhibit hall it gives fans a chance to actually chat with creators. How do we survive the loss of a character? It hurts so bad!
30 MarA few weeks ago, it was announced that Tyler Hoechlin- “Derek” on MTV’s Teen Wolf– would be leaving the show. Now, it makes sense as his character was pushed out of a central role in the last season and half because there are a ton of teens on the show (and the actor reportedly wants freedom to do more movies) but… Derek is one of the reasons I watch the show.
Without him, will I continue to watch? Continue reading
A little diamond in the rough- Tulare SciFi Con
22 MarRecently, we had the opportunity to attend a new regional convention- the Tulare SciFi Con, in Tulare, California. The convention is new in the way that this was its second year- and we were informed by several vendors and attendees that it had grown immensely since last year.
A Brief Appreciation of Leonard Nimoy
28 FebLike many of you in geekdom, I felt a slight bit of sadness upon hearing the recent news of Leonard Nimoy’s passing. While a lot of his friends, peers, and fans who have met him over the years have laid their own tributes as of this writing, I thought I should talk about how he influenced me. Or in this case, how his iconic performance as Spock influenced me.
Guest Post!!~ Geek Mom Raising a Geek Baby
16 FebNerdLush friend, Jackie, is back with another guest post– this time she returns to the topic of raising a baby in a world of geek.
********************************************************************
I’ve attempted to write this piece for several months now. It first started out as a piece on my experience taking a toddler to the Chicago Comic Con back in August. Then it evolved into a piece about finding “geek” and “super hero” clothing that’s for girls and doesn’t include a tutu. Then I sat back and realized I’ve written on both of these topics before. An Open Letter to TNT. (or why I had to switch channels)
15 JanDear TNT,

Welcome to the future! 2015 is here to stay!
1 JanToday, as we begin another shiny new year, we say goodbye to 2014. 2014 was a good year for NerdLush- we (I) had the opportunity to speak on panels at a few conventions; NerdLush grew with great guest posters (two of which are now official crew members!- Char and Marc); and a headquarters move. Here is the flipagram video I made on NYE that shows many of the adventures I had with various crew… Continue reading
Baby, It’s Cold Outside
12 DecWeather has finally arrived on the west coast, with rain and wind (and probably snow for those living in higher elevations) battering the state. It’s the perfect day to stay bundled on the couch and watch movies. Or marathon a TV show. Whichever floats your boat.
But what to watch? Continue reading
Gotham… do I like it or not?
18 NovAs I type this, I am halfway through the ninth episode of Gotham. And I still can’t decide if I like it.
I want to like it.
I haven’t missed an episode yet. Continue reading
