My non-spoilery THOR: THE DARK WORLD review

12 Nov

Look, if you haven’t seen Thor: the Dark World yet, you really need to. I mean, if you like superhero movies. I won’t spoil you with any details here- but the gist of my review is that if you like this sort of thing, you should go see it.

ARROW Season 2×04, “Crucible” recap

31 Oct

arrow-00002

Welcome back, Arrow-heads!  So, last time we were in Starling City, Laurel had survived an attack from Hentai-man, I mean, the Dollmaker and Ollie got saved from Laurel by that mystery blonde vigilante.  Plus, the show has a legit guy with the last name of Blood running around.  And in our flashbacks, Slade is on fire…as in his face and hands are burning, while past Ollie gets locked up on what seems to be a gritty reimagining of The Love Boat.  Let’s see if the Isaac on this ship has some wonderful cocktails to serve us while I recap this episode, huh? My Latest Obsession- part 4

15 Sep

And I’m back with the 4th of 5 posts regarding all the things ever (or at least the ones available to me in the US) done by Karl Urban. You’ve read 1, 2, and 3, right? There might be a quiz later.

San Diego Comic-con 2013- ARROW panel/ Q&A

24 Jul

At San Diego Comic-con 2012, one of things that I looked forward to was the preview and panel for the CW’s Arrow. We caught the pilot presentation twice and loved it both times- and as you know, the first season was my guilty pleasure show this past year. So, of course we had to catch the season 2 panel. They ran a short sizzle trailer and then we got to the fun… Pardon the shakiness of the video (my brother was the camera guy and I don’t think he is used to having to hold a camera steady that long). Let Freedom Entertain!

3 Jul

Last year I wrote a brief post about spending the fourth of July- Independence Day here in the United States- watching the “classic” Dean Devlin film, Independence Day. Had some trouble coming up with a topic for this year, but in the end I decided to make a list of some of the best things to watch on this holiday. This is totally biased to my tastes- I’d love to hear what you think!

Man of Steel aka The Building Murderer

29 Jun

I along with everyone else went to see the new Superman film Man of Steel with either low expectations or severe trepidation after the complete crapfest that was Superman Returns. Critically MoS hasn’t done well, but most reviews from cinema goers are quite positive and if you’ve not seen it yet then a) stop reading this because SPOILERS and b) go watch the film.

Television Graveyard- plot 5, Dark Angel

27 Jun

Alright… I’m back to talk “Girl Power”. Or… um… wait, I’m actually here to talk about a sci-fi “gem” from the early 2000’s that I passed on originally. Probably for good reason. But having recently sat to watch the entire thing- well, let’s just say I think it’s one that if you haven’t seen, you should. Probably.

The problem is- I can’t decide if I actually like the show or not. But that’s neither here nor there at the moment… let’s first talk about the show. Welcome to Dark Angel.

The Problem with Superman

12 May

Favorite adopted crew, Lee Daniels, pops in for another guest post. This time to share his thoughts on what’s wrong with Superman.

********************************************************

He’s not Invincible.

If you didn’t know, there’s a new Superman film coming out in a few weeks’ time called Man of Steel, this one is written by David S. Goyer (Dark Knight Trilogy) & Directed by Zack Snyder (300 & Watchmen) and has a pretty decent cast, so let’s hope it’s great because let’s face it, no-one wants to sit through another Superman Returns. Faster, faster, must go faster! Or err… something like that.

7 Feb

Fair warning- this is rambly. Even for me.

So, remember how I recently wrote about my plague and the end result was viewing the new Primeval: New World? And how in doing so I also ended up watching the original UK version, Primeval? Well… I did. I felt I needed an understanding of the concept in order to understand the new show. Actually, I don’t think you need to know more than the gist I wrote about in the other piece but since watching a few eps turned into marathoning all 5 seasons (36 episodes), I think it deserves a little love too.
