Television Graveyard – Supplemental Plot 2, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Stewart here…

With the release of another Terminator movie this month, one of the better versions of this franchise came in 2008, just not on the big screen. The Fox TV show,Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, seemed like an odd choice for a franchise that had entered blockbuster territory after Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Being the original Terminator was a low budget affair that maximized its budget to become a influential Sci-Fi movie, could a weekly TV show do justice to that? In a word: Continue reading

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 4, Eps. 21-22 and Season Four Highlights

6 Jul
The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps is not advocating destroying stars. Just to be clear about that to star destroyers. Hah! Got you with that joke, huh?

Stewart here…

Despite their attempts to sabotage Apophis’ rise to power, their efforts have inadvertently led to him gaining more power than ever before. Well, we’re at the end of season four, so all of this has to come to a head, right? Oh, does it ever in this round of minicaps… Continue reading

Canadian Space Travel (or my brief review of Syfy’s Friday Night lineup)!

2 Jul

Stewart here…

So I’ve been starved for space ship-bound Sci-Fi shows pretty much since Stargate Universe went off the air, and it looks like we’re about to get a good amount of them on Syfy this year. There’s The Expanse which is coming out later this year (based on the really good book series), and now there’s two imports from Canada, Dark Matter and Killjoys that are now on Friday nights. So here’s a brief review of both so far:

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 4, Eps. 17-20

The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps is updating its OS right now. Read the following in the meantime.

Stewart here…

Last time, SG-1 made some really big screw-ups. An ancient Goa’uld, Osiris, was accidentally brought back to life; an assassination attempt on Apophis gave him a bigger army than he had; and if it wasn’t for their future selves, the team would’ve contacted an alien race that would have subjugated the human race. You can’t bat a perfect game all the time, so let’s see how SG-1 does on the field this time around… Continue reading

Wizard World Sacramento

24 Jun

The downside of hitting a convention for only one day is that the day is spent rushing around trying to see as much as possible while still enjoying it. The upside? You went to a convention- any time spent at one is a good time.

I got a last minute-ish invite to join a panel at Wizard World Sacramento and as it is only a hop and three skips north of the NerdLush HQ, I accepted. But as it is so close, it made as much sense to opt for a day trip as it did to go for the whole weekend (especially with several other things coming up quick). So Saturday morning, I hopped in Tardis Jr and ventured to nerd fun. Continue reading

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 4, Eps. 13-16

22 Jun
The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps is busy reprogramming a space mine. Please don’t bother it right now, because it needs to concentrate.

Stewart here…

When last we left SG-1, they were still dealing with the renewed threat of Apophis, who now has a bigger army than he had before. What are they going to do to stop their nemesis? And what the devil happened to former colonel Maybourne, last seen involved in a failed Russian Stargate program? Let’s see… Continue reading

90s Movies In The House!

18 Jun

Stewart here…

Some months ago, we briefly touched on movies of the 90s. As I have been occupied with other things (like say, covering a weekly TV show for this very site), I can finally sit down and list off some of my favorite movies of the 90’s: Continue reading

Hold on to your butts! Jurassic World is a Summer Blockbuster!

16 Jun

Like most of America, I headed out with my family over the weekend to view the Jurassic Park franchise reboot, Jurassic World. Walked in wanting dinosaurs, snark, and absurd situations (come on… there’s a scene with people in hamster balls! Who does that?). I walked out happy because that’s exactly what I got. Sure the film has its flaws, but I’m not expecting Schindler’s List here.

My bottom line is that I want my summer blockbusters to be a couple hours of fun, where I don’t focus on my real life. And that’s what I got.

I liked it. I’d happily see it again. Continue reading

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 4, Eps. 9-12

14 Jun
The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps is busy keeping this generator running. Also, his name is Kenala. Who’s this Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps you are referring to? That name sounds familiar…

Stewart here…

Last time, SG-1 have been busy securing their alliance with the Tok’ra (brainwashed assassin interference notwithstanding), and dealing with a disaster on a Russian Stargate program. And hey, those death gliders nabbed back in season two? We’ll find out what happened to them in this installment of minicaps… Continue reading

Stargate SG-1 Minicaps / Season 4, Eps. 5-8

6 Jun
The Stargate SG-1 Season Two Minicaps only used that extra Gate once, and it was for business purposes only.

The Stargate SG-1 Season Four Minicaps has been brainwashed into being a sleeper assassin. So just be on guard for a while.

Stewart here…

SG-1 has been in the need of a breather after stopping the Replicators arriving on Earth (and losing one of the Stargates in the process), helping the Asgards fight the metal bugs, and helping out the Tok’ra on some particularly dicey missions. You think the team will get some down time? Not a chance! Continue reading
